The policy for Faction Changes has been changed!
Until recently, it was possible to request a one-time Faction Change via the Ingress Support which would reset your account to 0 AP and clear all your items to give you the opportunity to choose your faction again.
This policy has now been changed and it is no longer possible to request a Faction Change via the support. Going forward, the only way to change your faction after your initial choice is to reach Level 16 and to Recurse, which will give you the option to choose your faction again. If you're recruiting a new Agent, make sure that they pick the right faction!

Niantic has announced an impromptu Shard Event in Meiji Park, Tokyo and Laguna Main Beach Park, California scheduled for December 7th!
This Event will run from 1600 to 1730 local time and will see various members of the NIA attending to investigate this "phenomenon of unknown origin and potential". Multiple waves of Shards will spawn during this time with Agents trying to capture them on the Target Portal(s) of their faction.
While the event is a competition between the two factions, the result will not impact the Erased Memories series or its scores and will therefore also not award the Erased Memories Anomaly medal or any other medal created just for the event.

๐จ Zello advises their users to reset their password as a precaution after a probable security breach!
The management of the walkie-talkie app used by many Ingress players as a tool during Operations and Live Events has started issuing warnings to its users to reset their password if their account was created before November 2nd 2024.
This, if confirmed, would mark the second security breach on Zello systems in 4 years, the last one having happened in August 2020.
As always in situations like this one, they recommend to also be mindful if you have used the same password for other websites, as it is possible for attackers to use the exfiltrated credentials on other services.

The anniversary celebrations for Year 12 have ended! Niantic has taken a snapshot of your agent profile and will distribute the Year 12 anniversary medal according to your level shortly.
As a reminder, these are the requirements for each tier:
- Bronze: L3
- Silver: L9
- Gold: L13
- Platinum: L15
- Onyx: L16 or Recursed
โ Note: In the past, the anniversary badges have been distributed in waves, sorted by tiers. It is likely that it'll be the same this year, starting with Onyx and going down towards the lower tiers. If you see that others have already gotten their higher tiered medal, don't worry, it'll just take a bit until it reaches you. Niantic should start and finish distribution in the next 24 hours, if past years are any indication.
