The Chilean Ingress Community invite all Agents to their Mission Day Lite in the town of Montegrande in Chile on Sunday, February 25th!

Montegrande is the town where the great Chilean poet Gabriela Mistral lived and now forever rests. She was the first Ibero-American woman to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1945. The tour of the city during the event will include a visit to her tomb, her mausoleum and museum where Agents can appreciate her valuable contribution to literature and the whole world.

The Cryptic Memories Global Op has begun!

You have from now until February 5th, 17:00 UTC to gain enough points for the event medal.

As a reminder, the medal for this event will have two tiers at the following thresholds:
Bronze: 1.500 points
Silver: 15.000 points

Agents will be able to earn points by performing the following actions:
- Destroying a resonator: 1pt
- Deploying a resonator: 2pts
- Upgrading another Agent's resonator: 2pts

Niantic released a new Medal to celebrate the start the upcoming end of the Lunar year!

The Lunar New Year 2023 medal is now available to purchase in the ingame store for 2500 CMU. While the year of the Rabbit will be over in February already, Brian has posted on Twitter that "the Lunar New Year 2024 medal will be added in less than 365 days", so we can expect a medal for the year of the Dragon as well closer to the actual Lunar New Year!

In some parts of the world the Second Sunday for this month has already started. Due to a (now fixed) issue, it was possible that the Scanner didn't credit Agents towards the Second Sunday stat for completing 6 missions.

If you have completed 6 missions in a time zone in which the Second Sunday was already underway and you didn't receive your stat credit, open a support ticket via the in-app “Settings” menu > “Report Problem”.

As the issue has been fixed now, going forward, completing the 6 missions for the Second Sunday should now correctly credit the point towards the statistic so if you haven't already completed 6 missions you should have no problems.

New links under fields can now be up to 2km long!

After reviewing global activity during the Discoverie series, Niantic has decided that the maximum distance for new links under fields will be raised from 500m to 2km until further notice.

This limit will stay in effect during upcoming events like Anomalies, Global Challenges and Operations and will not be raised to 8km as it has been done during the Anomaly series in 2023.

Niantic has revealed the rules for the Cryptic Memories Anomalies!

In addition to the usual Battle Beacons and Shard Battles at Anomaly sites there will be two additional events in which Agents have to fight for their Faction: Cell Battle and Shard Night! These will be spread globally throughout the Cryptic Memories series!

The following is a short summary of all the ways you can help your faction:

Global Op
🔸 Destroy, Deploy and Upgrade Resonators to gain points towards the Cryptic Memories: Global Op medal until 5 Feb, 17:00 UTC
--> Gain the Cryptic Memories: Global Op medal in either Bronze or Silver depending on the amounts of points you score!

Anomaly Site
🔸Fight for the control of an Anomaly Site
- 17 Feb: Adelaide, Santiago
- 16 Mar: Macau, Porto
--> Gain the Cryptic Memories Anomaly Medal by interacting with 5 NIA Battle Beacons during the Anomaly timeframe

Cell Battle
🔸Capture MU in certain Regional Cells per each of the following three Septicycles:
- 2024.06 (7 Feb 15:00 UTC to 14 Feb 17:00 UTC) at five AMER Regional Cells, five EMEA Regional Cells and three APAC Regional Cells
- 2024.08 (22 Feb 05:00 UTC to 29 Feb 07:00 UTC) at three AMER Regional Cells, three EMEA Regional Cells and seven APAC Regional Cells

- 15 Mar, 19:00 to 20:30 local time at 13 AMER locations
--> The locations will be revealed about 10 days before the event
--> Gain the Cryptic Memories Anomaly Medal by interacting with 1 NIA Battle Beacons after the Event LOCALLY (Remote Recharging does not count for this event!)

Cryptic Memories - Global Op and Anomaly sites

Global Op
The Cryptic Memories - Global Op is a global challenge event that started on January 12th and will run until February 5th. Agents need to destroy, deploy and upgrade Resonators to gain points which, once at a certain threshold, award the "Cryptic Memories: Global Op" medal.

200 Series Points will be allocated proportionally based on the number of Agents earning any tier of the “Cryptic Memories: Global Op” medal per faction.

Anomaly Sites
Agents will battle over the control of 4 cities during two separate days. The rules for the Anomaly Site Battle largely follows the rules of the 2023 Anomalies for Battle Beacons, but include important changes to the Flash Shards rules! Each Anomaly Site is worth up to 200 Series Points.

Anomaly Zone Battle Beacons
🔸 6 Battle Beacon waves in 3 hours, one every 30 minutes.
🔸 Each Battle Beacon is worth 2+3+4 = 9 points, based on checkpoints won.
🔸Battle category does not affect the score.
🔸Volatile Battle Beacons are worth 3x the base points.
🔸The maximum score for each faction from any of the Battle Beacon waves during the Anomaly Period is their raw score. 93 points are divided in proportion to the raw score.

Flash Shards Challenge
🔸31 Shards and 6 Target Portals will manifest over the course of the Anomaly
🔸Shards jump via L4+ links every 10 minutes
🔸A new batch of 4 to 7 shards is generated every 30 minutes
🔸NEW: Shards are scored depending on the time they arrive at the Target Portal:
- Scored between 14:00 - 15:00: 1 point
- Scored between 15:00 - 16:00: 2 points
- Scored between 16:00 - 17:00: 3 points
🔸The first five shards secured on a faction's target portal are counted, regardless of which faction controls the target portal at that time and regardless of the point value of the Shard. Any additional Shards after the fifth on the same target portal scores 0 points.

Interacting with at least 5 NIA Battle Beacons will award Agents with the "Cryptic Memories" Anomaly medal. This medals is different from the "Cryptic Memories: Global Op" medal that can be gained from the Global Op.

Cryptic Memories: Cell Battles

In this challenge, Agents will be tasked with controlling specific Cells during specific Septicycles to help their Faction in the Anomaly Series.

🔸On the last checkpoint of the Septicycle, the Regional MU Score for each chosen Regional Cell is recorded.
🔸15 Series Points will be distributed based on that Regional MU Score.
🔸E.g. The 2024.03 Septicycle just ended in cell NR01-GOLF-03, with the score at CP 35 of: ENL 344.316 - 4.602.229 RES
The 15 Series Points would be distributed as: ENL 1 - 14 RES

Shard Nights

In this challenge, Agents will be able to earn Series Points for their Faction by capturing Shards in specific cities around the globe.

General details
Shard Nights will take place between 19:00 and 20:30 local time.
• February 16th - 13 EMEA cities
• March 1st - 13 APAC cities
• March 15th - 13 AMER cities
All cities will be announced approximately 10 days before their starting date.

1 week prior to the start, one ornament will appear on a portal in the chosen city which will designate a "Centerpoint".
24 hours prior to the start, ornaments will appear marking Shard spawn locations. They will be color-coded based on the wave the shard will spawn in and will be between 1km to 3km from the Centerpoint.

Shards behaviour and scoring
🔸Three waves of Shards, respectively with 3, 4 and 6 Shards will appear in 15-minutes intervals.
🔸Shards will only attempt one jump, 15 minutes after the spawn.
🔸Shards will despawn 5 minutes after their jump attempt.
🔸Any shard that jumps via a link of length >= 250m will be scored by the Faction owning the link. Portal level not being a factor.
🔸10 points will be distributed based on the number of shards scored by the Factions, rounded to 1 decimal place.

19:00: Wave 1 spawn

The TS - Morpheus portal is expected to appear during the Cryptic Memories Anomaly in Santiago! The portal and its sculpture were created by Camp Storyteller during the Epiphany Night Camp Navarro event, with the sculpture having the unique property of reading and displaying the status of the portal in the real world.

The TS - Morpheus portal and sculpture will manifest at Parque Bicentenario in the immediate vicinity of the "Tablero De Ajedrez" portal before and during Santiago's Goruck Stealth Ops event at around 17:00 local time which is held at the same place.

Make sure to visit it and investigate the strange Portal from another universe and share your findings!

All Ingress agents are cordially invited to Chickamauga, Georgia, USA for TWO events on March 2nd, when the local community will be hosting both an Ingress Mission Day and Ingress First Saturday!

Chickamauga Battlefield, located in northern Georgia near Chattanooga, Tennessee was authorized in 1890 to protect the historic battlefield where more than 34,000 casualties fell. It was the first and largest park (5,300 acres or 2,145 ha), and the one upon which the establishment and development of most other national military and historical parks was based. The total area protected by the park is now 9,523 acres!

⚠️PSA for Ingress Origins Subscribers⚠️

As part of the Ingress Origin kits, a subscription was offered that gave 10% off for each kit, as well as a deck box with the Agent name of the subscriber. This deck box was supposed to be delivered together with Kit 08, the last kit in the series. Both of these items were due for shipment at the end of October.

Despite the payments being processed in mid-October, many agents have not received their last kit or deck box. Agents that have opened support tickets with Niantic Supply were told that there has been an issue with the production of the personalized deck boxes and that they must be remade.

As it has been over three months since the kits were originally scheduled to be dispatched, Agents are taking to the forums to voice their concerns about the handling of the situation, as well as the relative silence of Niantic Supply. As Niantic Supply is not run by Niantic themselves, but the company Advoc8, the hope is that the comments on the forum make Niantic aware of the larger issue. If your kits and deck box are still missing, we encourage you to visit the thread below and voice your concerns.

Niantic has released version 2.134.1 to the App Stores!

While no specific game changes have been listed in the changelog, the scanner has received a new logo for the Cryptic Memories anomalies!

Niantic has reported that they are aware of issues that cause Samsung S24 devices to crash while playing Ingress and are investigating the causes.

This is apparently not an issue that is specific to Ingress but is occurring across other non-Niantic apps and products too. As such, it is unknown if a fix is needed from Samsung as well.

If you have been affected by this issue, Niantic has opened a thread on the Community Forums in which you can add your name to the list of affected Agents. When commenting, make sure to include your device information.

New Media is dropping from the Portal Network and has revealed a new feature for Ingress: Bounties!

Bounties are a set of tasks that Agents can take on and complete for item rewards. These tasks rotate daily.

The NIA wants to activate the Bounties Program immediately, so we should expect it to be available in Ingress soon. A recent Twitter post from Brian has shown a new button on the map screen which very likely represents the Bounties feature, so the newest update most likely has added internal support for it already!
