Phase 2 of the #Discoverie series has run for 2 weeks by now and Niantic has revealed the Interim results of the Discoverie Kinetic Challenge!

Currently, the Resistance lead the challenge with a small margin of 190 more Agents that have completed 30 Kinetic Capsule programs as opposed to the Enlightened. There are still 3 weeks to go until the end of Phase 2 though and the Enlightened can still recover!

Friday next week is when the Ingress Year 11 celebrations start which lowers the distance requirement of a program to 1km and enables Agents to run 11 Kinetic Capsules at the same time.

(Please note that, due to unexplained anomalous behaviour in our discussion group, comments are currently disabled. We expect the anomaly to subside on November 1st.)
The Level requirements for Wayfarer related edits were recently adjusted.

All edits (as in edits for a Portal's title, photo, description, or location) now require an Agent to reach Level 10. Previously, the requirement to edit a Portal's title, photo, description was set at Level 8, while location edits required Agents to reach Level 12.

This means that all Wayfarer related functions (edits and submitting new nominations) are now uniformly unlocked at Level 10 once the Agent completes the Wayfarer training. Submitting Portal Scans will remain unlockable at Level 8 and reporting invalid Portals remains open to everyone no matter the level. As before, recursed Agents are not affected by the level requirements.

Wayfarer Update
Following the maintenance, Wayfarer has now updated its interface.

Please be aware there has been a change to the questions asked during review, so ensure you take time to review and understand the updated information. It may be best to treat this as a clean slate and forget the way you previously reviewed, whilst remembering to stick to the criteria.

๐Ÿ‘‹ Whatโ€™s gone
โƒ The rating of 1-5 for Wayspots has been removed
โƒ There is no need to pass a test to use Wayfarer for reviewing and submitting
โƒ Questions about historical and cultural significance have been replaced
โƒ โ€œOther Rejection Criteriaโ€ has been removed
โƒ There is no overall comments box.

๐Ÿ†• Whatโ€™s new
โƒ Instead of 1-5 stars ratings, youโ€™ll get a series of questions such as โ€œIs this a good place to socialise?โ€ and โ€œIs the submitted photo, title, location, and description (if exists) accurate and informative?โ€ and will answer these with a ๐Ÿ‘, ๐Ÿ‘Ž or โ€œI Donโ€™t Knowโ€. Voting with a ๐Ÿ‘Ž on the first four questions will automatically reject the nomination.
โƒ All of the questions will have an information tooltip which contains further information. It is visible by tapping โ„น๏ธ
โƒ Instead of a test, each Wayfarer now goes through a standard onboarding process
โƒ There is a new optional question about the approximate number of people that could potentially gather at this location

The tooltips contain several clarifications, so make sure to read them thoroughly.

Niantic has also produced a series of videos for their refresh to the system.

Welcome to Wayfarer
New Interface Overview
Reviewing

As always, ensure you follow the criteria and review Wayspots abiding by them.
If you have any feedback about this new interface, make sure to share it on the Wayfarer forums!

A big thanks to Agent @PkmnTrainerJ and @UKWayfarer for their extensive report on this Wayfarer update!

Niantic has just forced update 2.128 and with it, some Agents are reporting crashes when starting the game.

While the exact reason is unknown, our current theory is that it affects agents that have never fully completed the tutorial in Prime since it launched. With the newest update, Niantic introduced a new tutorial, however, it hasn't been activated by them yet. We assume that the Scanner is trying to start this deactivated tutorial and crashes due to it.

If this is indeed the reason for the crash, the bug should automatically resolve itself once Niantic activates the new tutorial.

If you are experiencing this issue, you can upvote and comment on this post: https://community.ingress.com/en/discussion/22083/globe-animation-freezes-during-login-sound-keeps-playing

Current status: ๐ŸŸข Issue fixed.

Agents are once again running the Ingress World Wide Competition in 2023! This November, from the 1st to the 30th and during the 11th anniversary of Ingress, participants will engage in a friendly competition among agents to find out who will be the best in one of 20 statistics!

Niantic has once again sponsored codes to give to the best players in each of the 20 choosen stats. These will be tracked by using the Agent Stats website and app. In addition, other passcodes might be posted from time to time.

To keep up to date, join the dedicated Telegram channel, from which you can also join the discussion group to socialise with other agents, discuss strategies and keep up-to-date with the scores during the month!

The Ingress team has made updates to Overclock!

Our outside correspondent has noticed that the hack timers for Overclock seems to have been increased for the higher portal levels. As an example, while L7 portals previously had a timer of 19 seconds to complete an Overclock hack it has now been increased to 27 seconds. Let us know if you see increased hack timers at other levels!

Additionally, it has been noted by a member of our discussion group, @HalabanachaPL, that the team is planning to introduce a new statistic to the profile. The "Overclock Hack Points" statistic is currently non-functional so it is unknown how exactly it'll count, however Agents can trigger its appearance in their profile by completing an Overclock hack.

โš We want to note that the introduction of a new statistic does not necessarily mean the introduction of a new medal.

We have received reports that ads are being shown in our channel, specifically about the TON blockchain.

We want to clarify that these ads are automatically shown by Telegram and not by us. We have no control over if an ad is shown or what is contained in it and do not endorse anything that is advertised in these adverts. These advertisements also appear in other channels such as the official Ingress channel @NianticOfficial.

IUENG specifically stands against Cryptocurrency and denounces this TON advertisement.

If you have a Telegram Premium subscription you should not encounter any ads in channels.

The new statistic we reported on earlier seems to have been activated! The Overclock Hack Points are being backfilled slowly as well, so if you have done Overclock hacks in the past it seems like that they will count towards the new statistic. It is unclear if every Overclock hack since its release is counted or if there is a cut-off.

Agent @a1mirr (thank you!) has experimented with different portals and has provided us with the following list that shows how many points Agents get for correctly completing Overclocks with diffrent Portal levels. If you fail to calibrate to the Portal you'll recieve the same Hack Points you'd recieve for correctly glyphing the portal, however if you are calibrated to it you'll recieve a 5 point bonus.

For an uncallibrated Overclock:
L1: 1 point
L2: 2 points
L3, L4, L5: 4 points
L6, L7: 8 points
L8: 15 points

For a calibrated Overclock:
L1: 6 points
L2: 7 points
L3, L4, L5: 9 points
L6, L7: 13 points
L8: 20 points

โš We want to note again that the introduction of a new statistic does not necessarily mean the introduction of a new medal.

Niantic has published the release notes for Ingress Prime v2.129.1!

In the Release Notes, Niantic officially announced the addition of the "Overclock Hack Points" statistic we reported on. As expected, the amount of points received depend on the Portal Level plus an additional 5 points for each successful calibration to a Portal.

In addition, the Ingress team has added a short video that is shown to new agents before they start their journey. Fixes include a fix for a bug for existing Agents concerning the codename and Faction selection screens.

@IUENG
In 2012, a group of researchers at CERN discovered a new sub-atomic particle that carried the ability to transmit data directly into one's mind. Shortly before a failed experiment locked the research facility down, two people escaped with the help of a mysterious helper. One of these two fled via a train from Zurich Hauptbahnhof but lost their phone in the process. The contents of this phone were discovered and uploaded by someone nicknamed "Glitchy Guy" shortly before he disappeared. On November 15th 2012, exactly 11 years ago, the software extracted from the phone was released on the Play Store under the guise of a game.

Today, we celebrate the 11th anniversary of Ingress! ๐Ÿ”ธ

Throughout these years, Ingress has undergone numerous updates and transformations, often bringing a mix of emotions and opinions. But one thing remains constant - the vibrant memories and experiences we've all gathered as Agents in this engaging virtual world.
This anniversary, we want to turn the spotlight on you, the Agents who have made Ingress more than just a game. Whether it's a thrilling field op that took you across cities, a memorable anomaly you participated in, or simply the friendships and communities you've built, we want to hear your most cherished Ingress memories.

Write them down in the comments below and we will give away 1 VR Loadout each to 3 Agents that have shared their story! We will randomly choose them once the current Anniversary event ends next Monday, November 20th at 17:00 UTC.
