@IUENG
At the end of the first phase of the Discoverie Anomaly, the Enlightened are in the lead by a handful of points, winning one site earlier today in Taichung.
The Resistance came out on top in both the primary site of Madrid and the satellite site of Curitiba bringing the total score of the Discoverie Anomaly to:

๐ŸŸข ENL 539 - 461 RES ๐Ÿ”ต

Phase 3 will take place on November 19th but, in the meantime, the Discoverie Kinetic Challenge (Phase 2) is set to start in just a few hours! We are eager to see how the series will evolve! Keep following us for the latest updates!

@IUENG
The Discoverie Kinetic Challenge begins now!

From now until November 17th @ 23:59:59 UTC, Agents will be able to obtain the Discoverie Medal by claiming the items from a completed program (just walking the required distance isn't enough!) 30 times from Kinetic Capsules. Not only that, but the Faction with the most Agents reaching this goal will obtain a 1.331x multiplier on their score in Discoverie's phase 3!

A midpoint measurement will be taken at a time yet to be defined.

โ„น Hint: the tail of the challenge will bleed into the #IngressY11 celebrations event. From November 10th, Agents will be able to run 11x 1km Kinetic Capsule at the same time!

It's time to move! ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚

@IUENG
๐Ÿ”ต๐ŸŸข Operation Clear Field was completed successfully with the help of many smiling Agents from both Factions!
Our live correspondent from Madrid captured them posing for the ritual group picture.

All 14 teams completed enough tasks from the "hitlist" to cross the 30 point threshold, which means they can expect a count up on their Operation Clear Field badge within the next few weeks.

We hope you enjoyed the event! Tag yourselves in the comments!

@IUENG
Since today, playboxes for phase 3 of the Discoverie Anomaly, which will be held on November 18th, are live on the Intel Map!

The participating cities this time around are:
๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ญ Bangkok, Thailand (Top left)
๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Palermo, Italy (Top right)
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Atlanta, GA, USA (Bottom left)

As always, if you are planning on participating in any of these Anomaly Events, make sure to organize with your Faction to ensure a perfect strategic planning and team coordination! Visit the links below!

@IUENG
It's not a bug, it's a feature! For the rest of the Discoverie series, which end in the middle of December, Agents will be able to create links shorter than 8km while under fields.

This change was previously only planned for the three weekends where agents compete for cities.

In May 2020, Virtual Ingress First Saturday Events were introduced to allow Agents to maintain this type of events even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today, FevGames has announced that, starting in 2024, in-person Ingress First Saturday Events will return to be the only ones to award a First Saturday Badge point.

Onsite Decoding challenge, restock portals, event verification, and online registration will remain the same. However, the online decoding challenge, auto-scoresheet and group photo will become optional.

If your event site is forecast to experience any disturbance out of your control (weather, civil disturbances, etc...), it can be turned into an online event as late as 72 hours before the start, however it won't be eligible for IFS medal credit.

For any questions, join the global IFS telegram community!

@IUENG
Exciting news for the most creative Agents! IFS Media Artwork submissions are now open, and you have until January 29th, 2024, to participate in this event!
That's right, you've got three whole months to showcase your artistic talents!
While the folks at FevGames prepare to receive your masterpieces, featured artworks in IFS Media will be paused for November, December, and January, as new artworks will be revealed in February 2024.

This time extension will provide the artists in our community with ample opportunity to craft and submit their remarkable artwork to be featured in Ingress.

For more details and to submit your artwork, visit the article on FevGames' website!

Niantic has published the release notes for Ingress Prime v2.128.1!

In this release, the tutorial has been redesigned so new players will get to know the game and learn how to play before they visit their first portal. This change will go live once everyone has access to the new version and it is forced for everyone.

In addition, a bug fix was made regarding an error message when trying to edit a Portal if the player hasn't reached the required level yet.

The Niantic Wayfarer team recently announced another import of POIs from services such as Foursquare into the Wayfarer database as Wayspots in India. These Wayspots are supposed to begin showing up in various Niantic games starting on November 1st, depending on the inclusion rules of each game.

Niantic has also announced that these Wayspots will not be imported as Portals into Ingress. As these Wayspots will still be available in the Wayfarer database however, this might negatively impact Indian Agents when trying to submit new Portals in the future as these hidden Wayspots can still be used to mark new submissions as a duplicate or block Portals from going online due to the distance limit of 20m to other live Wayspots.

You can discuss the POI import on the Wayfarer forums here: https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/48362/new-wayspots-coming-to-india

@IUENG
Niantic recently updated the requirements phones need to meet to enable and use Portal Scanning.

For iOS, the phone must simply be an iPhone 8 or a newer device running on iOS 14+.

For Android, the requirements are a bit more convoluted. An Android phone must run Android 9 or a newer version, support Google Play Services for AR and must have one of the following mobile GPU/CPU combination:

๐Ÿ”ธADRENO 630, Snapdragon 845
๐Ÿ”ธADRENO 640, Snapdragon 855, 855+, 860
๐Ÿ”ธADRENO 650, Snapdragon 870
๐Ÿ”ธADRENO 660, Snapdragon 888
๐Ÿ”ธADRENO 730, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
๐Ÿ”ธADRENO 740
๐Ÿ”ธSAMSUNG XCLIPSE 920, Exynos 2200
๐Ÿ”ธMALI-G72, Exynos 9810, Kirin 970
๐Ÿ”ธMALI-G76, Exynos 9820, Kirin 980
๐Ÿ”ธMALI-G77, Exynos 990, Kirin 985
๐Ÿ”ธMALI-G78, Exynos 1080, Kirin 9000
๐Ÿ”ธMALI-G710, Pixel 7 series

To check if your phone includes one of these SoCs you can head over to devicespecifications.com and search for your phone via the search bar at the top right. Once you have found your phone, check the "GPU" or "Chipset" line and compare it with the models listed here.

If your chipset is not listed here, your phone is not (officially) supported and cannot be used to scan portals, even if it was able to in the past. Niantic updated the framework Ingress uses for Portal Scanning in version 2.123.1 which came with stricter requirements for devices.

@IUENG
Niantic Wayfarer will be undergoing a 6 hour maintenance on Monday, October 30th, from 14:00 UTC to 20:00 UTC. During that time, the Wayfarer website will not be accessible and things like reviewing or editing nominations will have to wait until the maintenance is over.

This maintenance only affects the Wayfarer website. Actions taken in Ingress such as submitting new nominations or edits will work as normal.

@IUENG
The Audio AR and Head Tracking feature in Ingress got an update which adds support for two more Sony headphone models!

You can now connect headphones of the models WH-1000XM5 and WF-1000XM5 to the Scanner and activate Head Tracking in the settings to immerse yourself deeper in the world of Ingress. They join the list of already supported headphones consisting of the Sony LinkBuds and LinkBuds S. Activating this feature will make use of the headphones sensor to rotate your Agent Avatar depending on how you turn your head.

@IUENG
Phase 2 of the #Discoverie series has run for 2 weeks by now and Niantic has revealed the Interim results of the Discoverie Kinetic Challenge!

Currently, the Resistance lead the challenge with a small margin of 190 more Agents that have completed 30 Kinetic Capsule programs as opposed to the Enlightened. There are still 3 weeks to go until the end of Phase 2 though and the Enlightened can still recover!

Friday next week is when the Ingress Year 11 celebrations start which lowers the distance requirement of a program to 1km and enables Agents to run 11 Kinetic Capsules at the same time.

@IUENG

(Please note that, due to unexplained anomalous behaviour in our discussion group, comments are currently disabled. We expect the anomaly to subside on November 1st.)
The Level requirements for Wayfarer related edits were recently adjusted.

All edits (as in edits for a Portal's title, photo, description, or location) now require an Agent to reach Level 10. Previously, the requirement to edit a Portal's title, photo, description was set at Level 8, while location edits required Agents to reach Level 12.

This means that all Wayfarer related functions (edits and submitting new nominations) are now uniformly unlocked at Level 10 once the Agent completes the Wayfarer training. Submitting Portal Scans will remain unlockable at Level 8 and reporting invalid Portals remains open to everyone no matter the level. As before, recursed Agents are not affected by the level requirements.

Wayfarer Update
Following the maintenance, Wayfarer has now updated its interface.

Please be aware there has been a change to the questions asked during review, so ensure you take time to review and understand the updated information. It may be best to treat this as a clean slate and forget the way you previously reviewed, whilst remembering to stick to the criteria.

๐Ÿ‘‹ Whatโ€™s gone
โƒ The rating of 1-5 for Wayspots has been removed
โƒ There is no need to pass a test to use Wayfarer for reviewing and submitting
โƒ Questions about historical and cultural significance have been replaced
โƒ โ€œOther Rejection Criteriaโ€ has been removed
โƒ There is no overall comments box.

๐Ÿ†• Whatโ€™s new
โƒ Instead of 1-5 stars ratings, youโ€™ll get a series of questions such as โ€œIs this a good place to socialise?โ€ and โ€œIs the submitted photo, title, location, and description (if exists) accurate and informative?โ€ and will answer these with a ๐Ÿ‘, ๐Ÿ‘Ž or โ€œI Donโ€™t Knowโ€. Voting with a ๐Ÿ‘Ž on the first four questions will automatically reject the nomination.
โƒ All of the questions will have an information tooltip which contains further information. It is visible by tapping โ„น๏ธ
โƒ Instead of a test, each Wayfarer now goes through a standard onboarding process
โƒ There is a new optional question about the approximate number of people that could potentially gather at this location

The tooltips contain several clarifications, so make sure to read them thoroughly.

Niantic has also produced a series of videos for their refresh to the system.

As always, ensure you follow the criteria and review Wayspots abiding by them.
If you have any feedback about this new interface, make sure to share it on the Wayfarer forums!

A big thanks to Agent @PkmnTrainerJ and @UKWayfarer for their extensive report on this Wayfarer update!
