We hope that, for this festivities period, you will be surrounded by your loved ones, spend some quality time with them, but most importantly... eat plenty!

Once again, our most joyful wishes for a Merry Christmas to the whole Ingress Community, from @GigaThunder, @GloomyQueen, @InvestigateXM, @SmurfHunter, @Ishira and yours truly, @carlobolla!

Niantic has announced the retirement of the Quantum Capsule and it's replacement with Rare Kinetics Capsules.

The Quantum Capsule will no longer be hackable from Portals, and passcodes that included a Quantum Capsule will now return a Rare Kinetic Capsule in its place.

Niantic stated that the contents of any existing Quantum Capsules will be moved to the Rare Capsule.

The Rare Kinetic Capsule will also be available via the in-app Ingress Store at 2,000 CMU.

Niantic has published the deadline:

Quantum Capsules will be deprecated and replaced at approximately 17.00 UTC on 24 January

The Capsules will be replaced with one rare capsule and one rare kinetic capsule.
In addition, for one week from that day the distance required for all Kinetic Programs will be reduced by 50%

The Quantum Capsule will no longer be hackable from the XM Network, and any existing passcode that included a Quantum Capsule will now return a Rare Kinetic Capsule going forward.

Niantic has released the update notes for Ingress Prime V2.108.1!

In this update a couple new features were introduced, such as increased precision on the hack cooldown timer, which will now display the exact seconds remaining!

Minor movements of Portals in Wayfarer will not break the links connected to the Portal (links will still be connected to the original position of the portal and will be destroyed when the portal is neutralized)

The Niantic Labs Settings menu will now host a new toggle to automatically confirm item pickup, making it easier to rapidly pick up items from the ground.

Finally, the layout of the game has been updated to better accommodate iOS's Dynamic Island and camera cutouts in general.

The only note about bugfixes concerns the crashes occurring during the "Report a problem" flow, which have been corrected.

@IUENG
As announced in Niantics latest news post, the "Roland Jarvis 2023" and the "Ollie Lynton-Wolfe 2023" loadout kits are now available in the store. Each kit costs 30800 CMU (Minimum: $20 / โ‚ฌ24 per badge) and includes the respective medal as well as some items. The kits are limited to 1 per agent.

These medals continue the trend of the characters seemingly being generated using AI. As with the PAC and Hank Johnson medals from the Epiphany Dawn anomalies as well as the Klue and K medals from Superposition, which are also using artwork generated by AI, this does not seem to indicate that new actors were hired. On the NL-1331 site for SXSW, we can also observe the backgrounds being generated by AI, which seems to mark a new trend within the Ingress's team.

@IUENG
During 2017 and 2018, Agents gathered in the Redwoods of California at Camp Navarro and on the castle Schloss Kaltenberg in Germany to team up and build so called "Portal Luminance Projects", sculptures that were brought into the game as portals with the unique opportunity to react according to the in-games state of the portal. Due to the immense work that went into them, Niantic preserved the portals and Portal Keys as memorabilia and moved them to Antarctica after the events were over, promising that these portals would never be deleted.

Now, almost 5 years later, these portals have been deleted. After a report of a player from another Niantic game on the Wayfarer forums, the portals were deleted by Niantic believing them to be a result of Wayfarer abuse. The community immediately challenged this decision with Niantic stating they overturned the decision 4 days later. However, over a week after advising the return of the portals, neither the portals or keys have returned to the scanner.

Agents that visited these events are understandably very angry and have repeatedly asked Niantic why the portals have not been brought back online yet, with a lot of them feeling betrayed and considering leaving the game. However, Niantic has yet to respond to these questions.

Have you visited one of these events or participated in building a PLP? You can voice your opinions and/or support of the restoration of the portals here: https://community.ingress.com/en/discussion/21058/camp-navarro-portal-removed-due-to-ignorance-of-wayfarer-team

EDIT - 14/02 18:00 UTC

Thia has responded to the concerns of the deleted PLP portals and has promised to get them back online as soon as possible.

Niantic has posted a news post where they formalized the newly introduced features: the Dual Core badge and the new Kinetic Capsule programs.

Additionally, the Ingress team announced that soon the amount of AP gained from recharging a Portal will become proportional to the quantity of XM recharged.

Finally, the team acknowledged an issue with the level of output items not being shown correctly in the Kinetic Capsule carousel. This will be fixed in the next update.

@IUENG
Organizing a field or starburst is always fun and exciting, but for these Agents, organizing something for a beloved member of their community has been, in their own words, "an absolute privilege".

This starburst was created in honour of Kuang, Agent @hydrotherion.

With him in mind, we decided to pick anchors important to him, and bring together people from both factions to collaborate and celebrate his life. As a true testament to the spirit of fun and care Kuang brought to ingress, members of both factions spent days in the lead up letting things decay and clearing the playing field.

The competition was set aside as Antwerp saw the starburst slowly begin to grow. With three green quarters and a blue one, the burst grew out then agents gathered back to the center to share laughter and the love for the game.

From the staff of IUENG, congratulations to all contributing players for their sharing your love for the game, each other and, most importantly, for your beloved friend Kuang.

In one week, the MZFPK Global Anomaly will take place. Precisely on March 18th from 0:00 to 23:59 local time. Here is everything you need to know about the event!

Agents will receive a set of six operations on their scanner upon entering it after the event starts.
These events are called the HexQuest.

The tasks will be:
- Trek 6 km
- Complete 60 hacks
- Deploy 60 Resonators
- Deploy 16 Mods
- Earn 60 Glyph Points
- Destroy 24 Resonators

Agents completing all six operations by 23:59 local time will earn the MZFPK Anomaly medal (see picture)!

The faction with the highest number of Agents completing all six challenges will win the event and decide the destination of Roland Jarvis, in this new reboot of the game's lore, to meet Debra Bogdanovich: if the Enlightened win, the researcher will go to Berlin, if the Resistance wins, he'll go to Zurich.

@IUENG
The MZFPK Anomaly is live!

Agents will be able to take part in the event from 0:00 to 23:59 in their own local time!

Complete the six challenges in the Agent Ops menu of your scanner to obtain the MZFPK Medal!

The faction with more Agents completing the HexQuest will capture this Anomaly!

Agents, it's time to move!

@IUENG
Niantic has stated to be aware that the Agent Ops button and the HexQuest tasks were activated for all agents globally at the same time, but chose to not interfere with the event.

This means that the HexQuest can be completed and the MZFPK Anomaly Badge can be obtained by all Agents even if it's not March 18th for them yet.

No info was given on the end of the event but, to make sure to be safe, IUENG still advises to complete your quests by 23:59 of March 18th local time.

Congratulations to all agents who contributed to their Faction's score!

As an effect of the Resistance victory, the NIA has informed that Jarvis is heading to Zรผrich Hauptbahnhof.
