Niantic has released the details for the previously announced event: the Peace Link Challenge 2022!

Peace Link challenge will take place from 15 September 16:00 UTC to 26 September 16:00 UTC and every agent will have to build at least 200 links to earn the medal.

A new statistic will be added to the agent profile to check the progress of the challenge.

In addition, the following will be added:
- Kinetic energy distance for Very Rare Heat Sink reduced from 8km to 4km
- Links shorter than 8km in length can be created under Fields (all other preconditions still apply)
- Portal Hacks will yield more Portal Keys
- 8-minute Drone cooldown
- New Glyph Sequences related to Peace

Thanks to the bonus obtained with the victory on the last day of Superposition, Resistance agents will get 1.25 points for each link created for this challenge.

In the store, the following items will be available:
- a free Peace Week Bundle (0 CMU; single redeem; for accounts older than 30 days) which will contain:
- 1 Peace Beacon
- 9 Rare Heat Sink

- the new Peace Beacon (1,000 CMU)

Niantic has posted the release notes for version 2.99.1.

This time, the update doesn't seem to contain a lot of changes, as the only point that is listed is that the bug in which the inventory has a capacity of "0" for a short time has been fixed. However, this fix may also affect other issues that have to do with synchronization problems.

Niantic announced a new Item: the Rare Kinetic Capsule!

This new item, presents the following differences as compared to the Common Kinetic Capsule we all have in our inventory currently:
🔸This Capsule is obtained by hacking Portals either first-hand or via your Drone
🔸 It is destroyed after 3 uses, and can be claimed by Agents of every level
🔸Up to 7 Kinetic Capsules can be active simultaneously, but any amount of Rare Kinetic Capsules can be in the inventory at any time.

To allow Agents to study their behaviour in-game, Niantic is re-enabling the ADA Refactor, Jarvis Virus and L8 Resonator Kinetic Capsule Programs.

Niantic has encouraged Agents to share, via the Ingress Community Forum, any new Kinetic Programs or Kinetic Capsule features that you would like to see.

This is how the new Rare Kinetic Capsules look like! Sporting the Rare purple, you can see how many uses are left before it breaks both in the inventory and when choosing a new program. The Rare Kinetic Capsule can also be recycled if you don't want to use it, however it cannot be dropped to other players.

The new Rare Kinetic Capsules should have already been available, however there are currently problems with the hack rate of the new items, so they cannot be hacked. Niantic is working on a solution so that the Kinetic Capsules will find its way to the agents as planned.

SpotX Games, Niantic's "web3 innovation studio" will be hosting another Cross-Faction Meetup in Miami on September 22nd starting from 18:30 local time.

Once again, agents will be able to meet other players and learn about the SpotX Games team at Niantic. First drinks are free for those 21+, and there will be some special Ingress surprises.

As an explanation: Web3 is an idea for a new iteration of the World Wide Web which incorporates concepts such as decentralization, blockchain technologies, and token-based economics, such as Bitcoin and NFTs.

Previous examples of SpotX Games projects include multiple scavenger hunts across cities and events that awarded NFTs and Crypto wallets.

Niantic has published the release notes for version 2.100.1!

The Rare Kinetic Capsules, which have already been available for a few days, are introduced once again. In addition, the button to buy resonators and XMPs within the respective carousels has been relocated, so that while they're now permanently visible, they can no longer be accidentally selected by fast scrolling.

Of course there are also some bug fixes, among other things, a problem was fixed where C.O.R.E. subscribers did not get their items for a new month.

The Ingress Peace Week event is live since 1600 UTC! You can now create links that will count towards the event medal. As a reminder, you need the following number of links depending on the faction to get your medal:

🔸ENL: 200 links created
🔸RES: 160 links created

The medal has only one bronze tier.

Also, various bonuses are now active and the new Peace Beacon is available in the store, along with a free package that you can pick up once.

The event and bonuses will run until September 26th at 4pm UTC.

Mission Days for Q4 have been announced!

As of writing this post, 32 Mission Days have been confirmed across the world for Q4, from October to December.

This list will be expanded in the future as soon as new Mission Days are confirmed. For example, while it is already set in stone that there'll be a MD in Los Angeles for the Epiphany Dawn anomaly, its not confirmed on which day it'll actually happen.

In addition, there is one entry on the list that caught our attention: "Stolpersteine (Distributed), Germany" on November 13th. Stolpersteine (lit. stumbling stone) are a project to commemorate and remember the victims of Nazi extermination and persecution, they are small blocks that are installed into the ground all around Europe that list the name of these victims. As Niantic listed this Mission Day as "Distributed", it seems like this event will happen at multiple locations in Germany. As soon as we know more, we'll let you know.

As first noticed by our colleagues in the @UKWayfarer channel, some agents are reporting that they're randomly seeing an influx of +500 AP notifications. This might be an indication that Niantic has finally fixed the photo sync that has prevented new pictures to appear in the game after they have been approved.

In addition, agents are also reporting that portals which were accepted during the Munich Anomaly weekend and in the middle of August are now visible in the game after they initially never appeared. This was vexing especially for a lot of agents that bought a OPR Live ticket, as a lot of portals were accepted by Niantic during that time.

FYI for all Resistance agents:

For the current global challenge, you'll only need to create 160 links to receive the challenge medal. However, the stat you see in your profile does not show created links, but points.

Each link a RES agent creates is worth 1.25 points, which means for every 4 points, the RES agent gets an "extra point". Both factions still need to reach 200 points to receive the badge.

If your stat shows 160, you haven't actually done 160 links, but only 128. You need to make 32 more to reach 200 points and receive the medal!
