Thia's faithful companion, Toasty, has been kidnapped! Help her rescue Toasty by identifying the landmarks and locations that Toasty visits. If you identify all the locations correctly, you will have a chance to win a VR Loadout Passcode!
To participate in the rescue mission, you'll need to follow NotNianticLabs' Twitter account, on which the images will be posted. Once Toasty's journey is over, there will be a Google form where you can send in your answers.

Niantic released the details regarding Phase II of the Superposition Anomaly: the Finale! This phase will take place from Friday, August 26th 2022 @ 1100 UTC to Monday, August 29th 2022 @ 1100 UTC. Niantic will host their challenges in 10 selected cities…
⚠️ A small (and late, my apologies) clarification: compared to Phase I, these are the changes in the scoring that will be in effect for Phase II:
- Scoring in the Impact Zone Beacon Battle will be based on the total score of all 9 windows, instead of the best window score for each Faction.
- In the Impact Zone Shard Battle, all shards captured will assign a point to the capturing Faction, regardless of how many have already been captured in a specific Target Portal
This phase, just like the first one, will be worth 520 points in total, 130 per challenge, which will be divided between the Factions.

The hunt for Toasty is nearing its end! Our colleagues at @NotNianticLabs have now posted all locations on their Twitter page!
The meeting of two Toasty's resulted in a rift in the Toastiverse! Other Toasts have been popping up all over the planet, and your help is needed in identifying all locations. The bugfixes for this version regard Adventure Sync, which can now be re-enabled, and Kinetic Capsule notifications, which now get sent when Programs are effectively completed and the output can be claimed.

Agents will be able to meet other players and learn about the SpotX Games team at Niantic. First drinks are free for those 21+, and there will be some special Ingress surprises.
As an explanation: Web3 is an idea for a new iteration of the World Wide Web which incorporates concepts such as decentralization, blockchain technologies, and token-based economics, such as Bitcoin and NFTs.
Previous examples of SpotX Games projects include multiple scavenger hunts across cities and events that awarded NFTs and Crypto wallets.

He stated that he is fully supportive of the way the SpotX team and Chikai (SpotX Director) are approaching and interacting with the Ingress Community, since they are part of Niantic as well and they have worked together back in the Niantic@Google Labs days.
He trusts that they are listening to the Community's feedback.
He also clarified that his priorities at the moment are growing the Ingress player Base and also (most importantly, ed.) their financials, while reassuring that Live Events will still be at the core of this growth and that a lot has been learned from Superposition Munich.
To conclude, Brian has affirmed how Niantic is exploring web3, and is sure that Ingress will help SpotX understand our community and continue their work.

NianticTintino announced the first Wayfarer Challenge of 2022 on the Wayfarer Forums: the Wayfarer Criteria Challenge. This challenge will run from today, August 17th until the end of August 24th (PST).
The Wayfarer team wants to focus on the Wayfarer Criteria by clarifying the ones found most challenging by the community.
To participate, Reviewers will have to screenshot a contribution they find during reviewing which they find confusing to review and submit it to the Criteria Challenge Form (One (1) submission per person.) along with the criteria you would like explained.
The top three criteria with the most submissions will be elaborated on by the Wayfarer team! Their explanation will be published on the forums and added to the official Criteria guide.
"What's in it for me?" you ask?
All participants will receive a newly-created Wayfarer Forum badge and, if your submitted criteria is the same as the winning top three and you reviewed at least 100 nominations during the challenge period, you will receive an additional Upgrade.

Niantic has published the release notes for Ingress v2.98.1!
In this version, a new Invert function has been added to the Layers in Map view.
Agents can now tap a Layer icon once to activate it, once again to invert it and a third time to turn it off.
Additionally, as announced in Munich, Nearby Portal Indicators can now be turned off in the Niantic Labs Innovations section of Settings. They will be enabled by default.
The new update is currently in rollout and will reach your devices in the next few days!

In this version, a new Invert function has been added to the Layers in Map view.
Agents can now tap a Layer icon once to activate it, once again to invert it and a third time to turn it off.
Additionally, as announced in Munich, Nearby Portal Indicators can now be turned off in the Niantic Labs Innovations section of Settings. They will be enabled by default.
The new update is currently in rollout and will reach your devices in the next few days!

The 10th anniversary of Ingress draws ever closer. To prepare for the 10th birthday of Ingress, we have prepared a competition for you: The IUENG Photo Competition!
Over the last decade, agent have fought over XM, MU, portals, fields and anomalies. During that time, tons and tons of pictures have been taken, of which we want to see the best of! Up until the anniversary, each 4 weeks, there will be a different theme for which we are looking for the absolute best picture of the last 10 years. Each week, the two best entries will be chosen by a panel of judges of both factions. Each winner will receive a passcode.
The first month will be starting today! This months theme is:
🔸Agents and new Contacts (Pictures of agents, including at Anomalies, Operations, Meetups etc.)
August 22nd 2022 - September 18th 2022
Have a great group photo from an Anomaly with a ton of flags or the perfect picture of your team swimming through a lake to link from a secure portal during a fielding operation? Or maybe there is a photo of a bunch of agents during a Xfac meetup with montains of Swag? Make sure to dig through your archives and submit the most amazing picture you can find!
To participate, you need to create a public post on social media, upload one photo and tag it with the Hashtags #Ingress and #ActualGameplayFootage. Once posted, you need to submit the link to the post to the Google Form below.
