Yesterday evening, at the Superposition Anomaly After-party, Niantic Labs Innovation was announced. This initiative will allow Niantic to introduce experimental features and advanced settings to enable players to customize and enhance their experience with the Ingress Scanner.

In particular, the features that were announced on-stage are:
- Native frame rate: Agents will be able to play Ingress using the native frame rate of their device (using more power from the phone) instead of having it locked at 30fps!
-Nearby Portal Indicators: These indicators, which popped up on the map to indicate the nearest Portals and their distance, could be disabled.

Both these (opt-in) features are slated to be introduced to Ingress in the future Ingress Year 10 update.

In addition to all of the above, a new edition of the NL-1331 Tour was stated to be planned for Europe starting next spring!

Agents in the old continent might be able to once again encounter the XM Research Vehicle on the European streets it and help its researchers in their journey.

Supposedly, 30 cities will be chosen to host a NL-1331 Meetup.

As announced in the changelog for the latest Ingress Update, Niantic introduced two small item packs featuring, respectively, 10x L8 XMP Bursters or 10x L8 Resonators for 1000 CMU.

These packs are permanently located in the Attack or Deploy carousel, to the right of all your Weapons or Resonators.

This is how the interface looks like when selecting them. At the moment, it is not possible to hide these packs.

NianticThia announced that the NL-1331 Meetups Medals should have ticked up for all Agents participating in the Munich Meetup during the Superposition Anomaly.

Niantic has released the details for this year's Level 8 Day!

From August 5 @ 16:00 UTC to August 9 @ 16:00 UTC, the following bonuses will be active:

🔸2x AP for all actions (4x AP with Apex!)
🔸2x L8 resonators can be placed per Portal
🔸8 minute drone cooldown
🔸80AP for each correct glyph while hacking
🔸888AP for visiting a portal you haven't visited before

There will also be special packs in the shop, including a free pack of 8 Hypercubes, 4 RES and 4 ENL fireworks.

Niantic released the details regarding Phase II of the Superposition Anomaly: the Finale!

This phase will take place from Friday, August 26th 2022 @ 1100 UTC to Monday, August 29th 2022 @ 1100 UTC.

Niantic will host their challenges in 10 selected cities starting on Sunday, August 28th @ 14:30 local time.
13 Connected Cells will also participate in the Event.

⚠️ A small (and late, my apologies) clarification: compared to Phase I, these are the changes in the scoring that will be in effect for Phase II:

- Scoring in the Impact Zone Beacon Battle will be based on the total score of all 9 windows, instead of the best window score for each Faction.
- In the Impact Zone Shard Battle, all shards captured will assign a point to the capturing Faction, regardless of how many have already been captured in a specific Target Portal

This phase, just like the first one, will be worth 520 points in total, 130 per challenge, which will be divided between the Factions.

The hunt for Toasty is nearing its end! Our colleagues at @NotNianticLabs have now posted all locations on their Twitter page!

The meeting of two Toasty's resulted in a rift in the Toastiverse! Other Toasts have been popping up all over the planet, and your help is needed in identifying all locations. They've been divided in two groups of 8, and two Agents per group, one Enlightened and one Resistance, will be randomly picked to win a Very Rare loadout card, as long as they have correctly identified all locations!

Additionally, one lucky winner who got all of the 16 answers correct will be drawn and will receive the huge prize of one additional VR Loadout card and a 2016 Klue Medal Code!

Niantic published the release notes for Ingress v2.97.1, and we got a much awaited new addition to the game!

Agents will now be able to opt-in to Native Refresh rate! This option will let Ingress match the native framerate of the device it's being played on, at the cost of a little more power being drawn.

The bugfixes for this version regard Adventure Sync, which can now be re-enabled, and Kinetic Capsule notifications, which now get sent when Programs are effectively completed and the output can be claimed.

SpotX Games, Niantic's "web3 innovation studio" will host a Cross-Faction Meetup in Miami on August 24th from 18:30 to 20:30 local time.

Agents will be able to meet other players and learn about the SpotX Games team at Niantic. First drinks are free for those 21+, and there will be some special Ingress surprises.

As an explanation: Web3 is an idea for a new iteration of the World Wide Web which incorporates concepts such as decentralization, blockchain technologies, and token-based economics, such as Bitcoin and NFTs.

Previous examples of SpotX Games projects include multiple scavenger hunts across cities and events that awarded NFTs and Crypto wallets.

Brian Rose followed up to the announcement of a Ingress×SpotX meetup later this month in Miami.

He stated that he is fully supportive of the way the SpotX team and Chikai (SpotX Director) are approaching and interacting with the Ingress Community, since they are part of Niantic as well and they have worked together back in the Niantic@Google Labs days.
He trusts that they are listening to the Community's feedback.

He also clarified that his priorities at the moment are growing the Ingress player Base and also (most importantly, ed.) their financials, while reassuring that Live Events will still be at the core of this growth and that a lot has been learned from Superposition Munich.

To conclude, Brian has affirmed how Niantic is exploring web3, and is sure that Ingress will help SpotX understand our community and continue their work.
