[Editorial note for context]
Today, the Supreme Court of the United States of America overturned Roe v. Wade, the landmark ruling that established the constitutional right to abortion in the U.S. in 1973.
This ruling allow States to set their own abortion laws, with almost half of them expected to outlaw or severely restrict abortion. -

📣 Niantic published the release notes for Ingress Prime v2.94.1!

As anticipated by Brian on Twitter, in this new version sound is getting some love! Sounds coming from Enlightened, Resistance and neutral portals has been updated, lines from ADA and Jarvis have been added and will play when in proximity to L8 Portals!

The team specifies that Portal sounds will start playing when you're within approximate line of sight to the Portal, and that they will not be played by each resonator any longer, but will come from the core of the Portal.
Additionally, the continuous static sound effect will no longer be emitted.

This update seems to lay the groundwork for the previously announced collaboration between Sony and Ingress, introducing Spatial Audio with the Sony LinkBuds.

Turning to the other updates, in addition to the release of Niantic Campfire, the Settings menu has been re-ordered to place more frequently accessed menu options at the top, such as Sound & Vibration settings.
The team also reports to have fixed the delay in the Epoch Medal being awarded to players.

Finally, Niantic announces to be moving back to more frequent releases, targeting the next app update by mid-July.

@IUENG
With 2.94.1, the "Headphone recommended" message at the start of the game has been replaced with "Sony's LinkBuds Series Recommended". This suggests that Spacial Audio is part of this update already! However, it's also possible that Spatial Audio still needs to be enabled server-side or that the feature isn't quite ready yet, as Niantic hasn't commented on it yet.

If you own one or Sony's LinkBuds headphones, try them out with Ingress and tell us if anything significant has changed!

Impact Zone Beacon Battle

This challenge will take place in Munich, from 1430 to 1730 local time of Saturday, July 30th.

The Anomaly Zone where this challenge will take place has been highlighted on the Intel Map. It consists of a set of Portals which will host Battle Beacons spawned by Niantic. Ornamented portals look like the ones in the upper half of the photo.

Niantic will deploy nine (9) waves of Rare Battle Beacons on some of the Portals composing the Anomaly Zone. Some of the Portals receiving a Battle Beacon will be marked as Volatile Portals, and will look like those in the lower half of the photo.

Aim of the challenge, is to win as many Battle Beacons as possible for your Faction.

Scoring
Each of the Battle Beacons will have the score for each Faction multiplied based on the Battle Category (CAT-I to CAT-VI) by 1-1-1-2-2-3 if the Battle Beacon was spawned on a non-Volatile Portal. It will be multiplied by 5 if the Portal was Volatile, regardless of its Category.

The raw score for this challenge, will be the best score achieved by each Faction in any of the 9 windows. 130 points will then be divided between Enlightened and Resistance based on this raw score.

Scores will be announced on-stage at the After Party in Munich.

Impact Zone Shards Battle

This challenge will take place in Munich, from 1430 to 1730 local time of Saturday, July 30th.
Aim of the challenge is to move Shards on links between Portals and score them in your Faction's Target Portals.

In the above picture, you can observe how Shards, Enlightened Targets and Resistance Targets look like.

Timetable
The timetable for this challenge is defined as follows:
14:30: Target Portals Spawn: 4x ENL and 4x RES
14:31: 13x Shards spawn (#1-#13)
14:40: Shards start moving
14:51: 13x Shards spawn (#14-#26)
15:11: Target Portals Re-spawn: 4x ENL and 4x RES
15:31: 13x Shards spawn (#27-#39)
15:51: Target Portals Re-spawn: 4x ENL and 4x RES
16:11: 13x Shards spawn (#40-#52)
16:31: 13x Shards spawn (#53-#65)
~17:20: Last Shard movement
17:29: Targets and Shard start de-spawning

Shard Properties
• Shards will only travel along Links connecting two L4+ Portals
• If Shards don't jump for 25 minutes, they'll teleport to another nearby Portal at the next jump.
• Shards won't backtrack to Portals they've been on in the last 25 minutes.
• Shards will choose a random link if multiple valid links exist. If Shards are stacked on the same Portal, they may jump on different links.
• Shards will stop moving once arrived at a Target.
• NIA will reverse Shard jumps accomplished by cheaters.

Scoring
Only the first six Shards to be captured at a specific Target Portal will score points for the respective Faction. Those scored before 16:00 are worth 1 point, and those scored on or after 16:00 are worth 2 points. 130 points are available in total (65 Shards * 2 points if captured after 16:00).

Scoring
The Regional Score of each selected Cell will be recorded at the start (July 25th @ 2300 UTC) and end (August 2nd @ 0600 UTC) of Septicycle 2022.29.

The difference between end scores and starting scores will be named ΔMU for the purposes of this guide.

If both faction have positive ΔMU, 10 points will be divided proportionally between the two factions.
If both faction have negative ΔMU, 10 points will be divided inversely proportionally between the factions.
If one faction has positive ΔMU and the other has negative ΔMU, 10 points will be awarded to the Faction with positive ΔMU.

@IUENG
Niantic is introducing two new types of Event: Ingress2x2 and Restocking Weekends!

Ingress2x2 is a two-hour timespan (in each country's local time) in which Agents will be able to obtain 2x AP (hence, 2x2). By using an Apex, Agent will obtain a 4x AP bonus.
The first two items of this kind are scheduled for:
• Sunday, July 17th @ 1400 to 1600 local time
• Saturday, August 20th @ 1400 to 1600 local time

Restock Weekends are 72-hour periods, on certain weekends, in which a hack output bonus will be applied on pre-determined items.
The first two events of this kind are scheduled for:
• Friday, July 15th @ 1600 UTC to Monday, July 18th @ 1600 UTC
2x hack bonus on Portal Mods and Ultra Strikes
• Friday, August 19th @ 1600 UTC to Monday, August 22nd @ 1600 UTC
2x hack bonus on Resonators and XMP Bursters

According to Niantic, there is currently no plan to implement a Restocking Weekend nor Ingress2x2 in September 2022 (future dates may also vary from the pattern of this month), and no plan to attach any medal to these two event types.

The team encourages Agents to make their feedback known on the Ingress Forum!

The first Restock Weekend is underway! Until Monday, 1600 UTC, the drop rate of mods and ultra strikes is doubled.

In addition, it seems like agents can now place 4 mods instead of 2.

@IUENG
Our dear friend @NikaKor from the Ingress-related Channel @investigaterussia has started a personal side project about the game, and we thought we'd help out! 😊

The project regards Ingress Medals in particular, and all the stories linked to obtaining them:

"The essence of the game is continuous moving and travelling. So all of our medals literally consist of stories about climbing a mountain for the last portal for onyx Explorer, or about the gift for participating in the MD speed contest."

Help us help Agent @NikaKor on this interesting study, and send him your own story of a Medal adventure!
To help structure them as best as possible, a handy form was made available for Agents!

@IUENG
Have you ordered an OPR Live Ticket for the Anomaly in Munich? You can now enter your 25 Wayfarer actions which will receive an independent, fast tracked assessment by the Niantic Wayfarer team!

On the PDF of the ticket that you received for OPR Live, there is a link to a Google form, which includes a Google sheet. You will need to enter your Wayfarer actions into this copy of the sheet by 23:59 UTC on July 28 and upload it to the form so that they will be reviewed by Niantic. It will not be possible to add these actions on-site in Munich after this point, it must be entered via this form.

The following actions can be entered and will be fast tracked by Niantic:
🔸Wayspot nominations
🔸New Appeals for already rejected nominations (meaning you can theoretically appeal up to 25 nominations at once)
🔸Edits to Wayspots (title, description, location)
🔸New photos for Wayspots

(*): Should a submission already be decided by the community before Niantic's decision:
- Rejected: the submission will be considered an appeal and will be reviewed again by Niantic
- Accepted: Niantic will look at your account's oldest submission that has not been decided yet

Submitted actions will be reviewed and evaluated by Niantic within 14 days of the anomaly.

After filling out the form, you will also need to make sure that the ticket is scanned by Niantic during the Afterparty of the Anomaly on Saturday so that you are officially checked in, receive a point towards the OPR Live medal, and your submitted actions will be looked at by Niantic.

Niantic introduced a new anticheating technology to Ingress: Compartmental Access Level.

Compartmental Access Level (CAL) is a system that prevents access to select Portal in the world, usually strategic Portals previously used in Agent Operations as well as a "dynamic list of Portals based on XM and Portal Network fluctuations".

The support article explaining this technology states that an Agent's CAL is dynamic and may increase or decrease over time, and it normally increases over time with regular gameplay activity.

A warning (photo) will be shown to players that try to interact with a CAL-protected Portal while not having a high enough Access Level.

If you believe you have encountered such a warning in error, you may contact Ingress Support and submit a ticket under the "Compartmental Access "Level category to receive assistance.
