Niantic Supply has updated their website and confirmed that the X Series Bio Cards will contain passcodes for new medals! It is still unclear if the 3 Mystery Character or Bio Cards that will be randomly found in the kits will also contain passcodes for medals.

Agents in the US lead by Agent @GreatwhiteLover, having observed the lack of BannerRuck events lately, have prepared a very nice unofficial event for the month of May!
The event consists in a 5, 10 or 15 KM virtual trek, while completing an Ingress Banner. You can participate from anywhere in the world (outside of the US, the ticket is a bit more expensive) and however you want: running, walking, biking, crawling...!
Participants have a cool woven patch shipped home for their participation!

Niantic has published the release notes for version 2.92.1!
Two new types of Dynamic Links are added: Profiles and Missions! These can be shared with others so that the scanner will open them directly when you tap the link. These are now available in addition to the existing Portal Dynamic Links.
Should the user not have Ingress installed, they'll be redirected to their respective App Store to download Ingress when opening a Dynamic Link. Profile data is not available outside of Ingress.
Ingress has also been updated to the Unity 2020 LTS version and a few bugs have been fixed, such as a crash when uploading new photos and a visual bug where a rare Battle Beacon showed 5 checkpoints on the map instead of 3.

The event will take place from Friday, May 20th @ 1100 UTC to Monday, May 23rd @ 1100 UTC: during this time, Agents will be able to deploy Battle Beacons and win the battles to obtains points for their Faction.
On Saturday, May 21st from 1430 and 1730 local time, NiaSection14 will deploy Rare Battle Beacons in 100 selected play areas.
In addition to the 90 cities which already received their ornaments, Niantic has chosen an additional 10 to complete the list. These cities are:
🔸Shizuoka City, Shizuoka, Japan
🔸Dubai, UAE
🔸Denizli, Turkey
🔸Kraków, Poland
🔸Stuttgart, Germany
🔸Cambridge, UK
🔸La Plata, Argentina
🔸Grand Rapids, MI, USA
🔸Midland, TX, USA
🔸Tapachula, Chiapas, México
On Saturday, May 21st between 1430 and 1730 local time, these 10 chosen cities will have Shards an Target Portals spawn with this timetable:
1430 - 2 Target Portals per Faction spawn

Scoring
Scoring is the same as Phase I as far as Beacons are concerned. Shards will split 13 points per city to the Factions based on the amount of Shards captured.
⚠ Rare Battle Beacons triggered by the AR Scan Meter will count towards the event score as Agent-Deployed Battle Beacons as well as towards the Kythera Medal! These will spawn at the top of the first hour of Septicycle 2022.20 (Saturday, May 21st @ 0800-0810 UTC)

The medal (see photo) will be awarded to Agents who will interact with 10 Battle Beacons in total across all three phases of the Event.
Additionally, the in-app store will feature a

The 9-Euro-Ticket is an initiative of the German government. As part of the energy relief package, it was agreed that users of local public transport in Germany would be able to travel for 9 euros a month for three months.

Wayfarer is getting its own app!
Niantic has announced that they are working on a mobile app for Wayfarer. The beta version will have the ability to scan Wayspots, as you can already do in Ingress and Pokemon GO. It will also feature a map that will show you Wayspots nearby. This is a nice feature for agents who regularly submit Wayspots, as this map will also show Wayspots that don't show up in Ingress due to the distance to other portals being too short.
Developers using the Niantic Lightship platform, as well as Wayfarer Ambassadors, will be testing this app in early beta. New users will then be invited later this year.
More news will be available during the Lightship Summit, which will be held May 24 and May 25 in the U.S.
