The final phase of the Kureze Effect Anomaly has officially started!

From now, for the next 72 hours, Agents will be able to deploy Battle Beacons and win them to earn points to their faction! The faction with the most points will influence Victoria Kureze's research to follow the ideals of the winner.

Starting at 14:30 on Saturday, local time, Niantic will start deploying Battle Beacons on ornamented portals: these will multiply the final score by 5!

To earn the Kureze Effect Badge (in the photo), you will need to interact with at least 10 Battle Beacons!

Learn more on the rules of the event: https://t.me/IUENG/5822

๐Ÿ“ธ Are you taking part in an event at a Niantic site or by meeting up with your fellow Agents in your local community? We would love to see your pictures! Send them in our discussion group or to @carlobolla!

Kureze Effect Anomaly

Agents,

Please take attention that NIA-deployed Battle Beacons are scheduled at different timing than the one announced, based on multiple factors.

To know when the wave will be available in your area, check this spreadsheet: https://bit.ly/3u8CS6w

Also, Niantic has scheduled incorrectly the final wave of battle Beacons in some areas, and it will be outside the announced window, but still will count for scoring.

The right time of the final wave can be checked in the last column on the spreadsheet above.

Due to this mixup, Niantic has added a free 3-pack of Rare Battle Beacons in the Store.

Scoring update!

At 16:00 UTC, the Enlightened maintain their lead while results come in from the last batch of Asian cities and the first few European results! Scoring from Agent-deployed beacons is really close, so it is not influencing the battle at NIA sites.

Agent-deployed Beacons: ENL 48.022 - 47.874 RES

They cost 2.500 CMU each.

The Kureze Effect Anomaly is officially over!

As per Niantic's rules, the final result of the Anomaly will be published within 24 hours from now.
The winner of the Anomaly will influence Victoria Kureze's research to follow the ideals of the Faction.
We are very curious to see if the undisclosed event starting on March 24th will have something to do with this!

Stay tuned! We will soon know which faction won this Anomaly!

@IUENG
Niantic Social is now available to all Agents!

After six months of work on the feature with the help of the Agents' feedback, the Niantic Social team released the feature for open use!
The team has also planned additional features that should make recruiting new agents easier in the future.

Niantic has revealed the details of the new Global Challenge which will take place from Thursday, March 31st @ 1600 UTC to Thursday, April 7th @ 1600 UTC.

Agents' help is needed by the NIA to investigate "a heretofore unknown and self-proclaimed member of Nemesis, identifying themselves only as Comic Sans".

To aid in the investigation, Agents will be required to create links on the Ingress map, participating in the Comic Sans Challenge.
A three-tier medal will be obtainable (see picture) with the thresholds being:

Bronze: 4 Links created
Silver: 41 Links created
Gold: 401 Links created

A new metric will be added to your profiles to help you track your progress.

During the challenge, Agent will experience:
- The ability to create links shorter than 500m under existing Control Fields
- Drone cooldown of 41 minutes

Furthermore, an additional limited-time Comic Sans Badge will be available for purchase on the in-app store for 2.500 CMU.

Finally, Niantic advises that the Sakura Collection medals will remain available until Monday, May 2nd @ 0000 UTC.

Thia posted a small update on the #roadmap for Q2 2022.

Since Thia still wants to properly learn about some things, and has been working to provide community insights on the situation in Ukraine/Russia, the C.O.R.E. anniversary passcode and other things, the roadmap might not be posted in time before Q2 starts. Thia already has a rough draft, but would like to flesh it out and have it translated into Japanese as well.

Is it really an Anomaly without a proper After Party?

Agent @beamT_US has organised an unofficial After Party for the Kureze Effect Anomaly with a 6-hour music livestream!

Sets from different artists and genres will be played and Agents will be able to have a chat with other participants!
This stream will be live and cross-faction.

Tune in on March 26th @ 1500 UTC! We'll see you there! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

As previously announced, Niantic is constantly monitoring the impact of gameplay changes implemented at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Starting on March 31st, in addition to the previously announced reduction of AP gained per recharge from 65 to the original 10 AP, Niantic is introducing a new temporary change by raising the AP gained for a capture from 500 to 675 AP (which combined with the 125 AP for deploying a Resonator makes a total of 800 AP per capture).

The following changes will remain in place and will be re-evaluated quarterly:
- 2x L7 Resonator deployable per Agent
- 90 seconds Hack Cooldown
- 675 AP gained per Portal Capture (800 if you also count the Resonator deployed)

Finally, these features have been made permanent in game:
- 180 Missions submittable per Agent
- L10 minimum access level for Wayfarer
- L8 Agents with ARCore compatible devices allowed to submit Portal Scans.
- Edit by Niantic: Dronenet enables Agents to hack a Portal from anywhere and counts towards Sojourner

Brian Rose answered some questions from Agents in a Q&A livestream in celebration of the release of Niantic Social to all Ingress Agents. Here is a summary of the most important answers!

- Premium Items will keep occupying inventory space. This is a way to guarantee fair play across all Agents, even those who haven't subscribed to C.O.R.E.

- Brian said that the decision of suspending all Niantic games in Russia and Belarus was not an easy one to make. The team is hoping to re-enable gameplay in the future and Niantic hopes for peace and a rapid resolution to the war in Ukraine.

- The speculative fix for the increased latency when recharging or deploying has not yielded the expected results but the team is still actively investigating what the actual cause may be, although they are finding it difficult to pin down.

- Mission Day applications may be opened in April, as the Mission Day Guide 2022 has been completed and sent for localization. Cities which had a Mission Day tied to the Hexathlons (cancelled because of the pandemic) will be reached out to and asked for a preference for rescheduling.

- The Ingress development team has been experimenting with 2-week sprints and a 4-week release cadence but are still evaluating the best option for both the team and the Agents. Brian shared an insight on the team, revealing it is composed of 20 people across all departments. He stated: "The question we always go back to, for every release, is, ยซWhat should we ship that Ingress Agents will thank us for building?ยป"

- It is unknown if @Mortvvs will ever recurse
