The Halloween Event announced by Niantic was officially presented on the community forums! Starting Thursday, 21 October, 16:00 UTC and spanning until Monday, 1 November, 16:00 UTC, the following bonuses will be active for Agents:

• 125 AP per Resonator destroyed or upgraded, Mod destroyed and recharge
• 313 AP per link destroyed
• 1250 AP per field destroyed
• 4 mods deployable by a single Agent

New items will be introduced in the Ingress in-app Store for the duration of the event:

• 120 L2 Resonators (1000 CMU)
• limited-time Halloween 2021 Medal (see picture) (2500 CMU)
• limited time Halloween 2020 Medal (2500 CMU)

Thia posted an update on current lags, missing portals, and a plan for new features by the end of 2021.

Ingress is more than just a game, and pushes Agents to explore the world far and wide.

Agent @fenixruivao started an expedition across Brasil from "Oiapoque" to "Chuì", as many Brasilian songs tell about, with his specially modified pickup truck! 🔧Ingress Drone Reminder Bot

Resistance Agent @Lynnsane created a new tool to make life on Ingress a little bit easier!

The Ingress Drone Reminder Bot is a Telegram Bot designed to remind users whenever it's time to move their drone to a different portal. Behaving like a stopwatch on steroids, give it the "fly" command after moving your drone and it will alert you whenever you will be able to move it again. It's also updated in real time with cooldown decrease from Niantic Events!

Additionally, it features a purely cosmetic function to add a colored heart and Agent name with the hue of your Faction!

Agents are reporting the gain of 1250AP per completed Portal Scan. This change on scoring was not announced by Niantic, so it's unknown whether the change is temporary or permanent. We will keep you updated on comments by the team.

Agents are currently experiencing issues in logging in and playing with Facebook. If possible, log into Ingress with your Google or Apple account until Niantic fixes the bug. We will keep you updated and let you know as soon as there is an update.

Niantic has given a small update: Facebook has disabled the "log in with Facebook" method for Ingress, and Niantic is in contact with them to fix this.

In the meantime, you can log in with your Google or Apple account. Should you not have one connected, here's what you can do:

- Open another Niantic game (Pokemon Go, Harry Potter).
- Log in with your Facebook account
- Connect your Google or Apple account to your account
- Log in to Ingress with your Google or Apple account.

Another important update: Facebook has blocked login to Ingress via their platform. According to Facebook, this is not temporary. Niantic is trying to challenge this decision.

If you only have one Facebook account connected to your Ingress account, follow the steps in our last post. It seems like Facebook login may take longer to be reactivated.

Niantic has announced the worldwide launch of Pikmin Bloom, a smartphone app designed to spice up your daily walks. Developed jointly by Niantic and Nintendo, Pikmin Bloom allows you to enliven your strolls with the help of your own Pikmin squad. With the new 2.83.1 Ingress version, announced features become real!

- Adventure Sync connects with Google Fit or Apple HealthKit to record your walking distance even if the Ingress Scanner isn’t open. This distance is used towards the Trekker medal and also completing Kinetic Capsule Programs.

- Portal Scan Meshing on supported phones allows Agents to better see what has and hasn’t been scanned during a Portal Scan. Meshing is an opt-in feature; all devices that had access to Portal Scanning in previous Ingress releases can continue to use the point cloud visualization.

In addition:

- Updated the loading flow with the Powered by Niantic Lightship logo.
- Fixed: Missing keyboard button in COMM Chat.
- Fixed: Hard lock when trying to re-scan a Portal.
- Fixed: Subscription Refreshbutton in the Settings menu sometimes fell below the fold.

Is my phone compatible with the new Scan Meshing?

After you have received the newest update, there is a new button in the scan view, which you can find in the upper right corner. If your phone is compatible, you will be prompted to download about 28MB of data for Niantic Lightship AR, after which Portal Scan Meshing will be enabled for you.

If your phone is not compatible, you will unfortunately get an error message. According to Niantic, the number of compatible phones will be increased in the future.

Thia has posted a quite cryptic post on the Ingress Community Forum. It states that the NIA (the Niantic Investigation Agency, the lore related one) has received clearance to experiment with cross-links under certain circumstances.

We are unsure about the meaning of the post. This may be a storyline cover for some experimentation on Ingress or the introduction of a new mechanic to the game. In any case, keep us updated in the comments about any unexpected phenomenon regarding cross-links!

⚠ EDIT: Vanguard @Azhreia shared with us that the circumstance mentioned in the post is the reset of spoofed Portals by Niantic. If the Portal is eligible for reset, the links attached to it will also be reinstated, no matter if they cross other existing links.

New users can attempt the quiz an unlimited number of times with a 15min cooldown period in between - enough time for you to revisit the Criteria pages.

Practice makes perfect and people who tried once never came back. This is your opportunity to join!

For those who have already taken the quiz and failed it twice, they will also be able to retake the quiz an unlimited number of times. 

Nominations In Review by Niantic

Nominations that are in review by Niantic will no longer disappear from your Nominations page. Your nominations will be displayed and labeled as being IN VOTING by Niantic, with a Niantic logo badge. 

Rejection Reasons

The top two rejection reasons that your rejected nominations received will be displayed - these are based on the rejection reasons noted by your nominations’ reviewers. Niantic heard your feedback about the upcoming email changes and wanted to get this done before they launched the new emails.

Niantic published the release notes for Ingress Prime 2.84.1, which contains a couple bugfixes.

Specifically, you'll now be able to scroll down to view all Portal photos in Portal Details and use the Back button to return to the previous screen from the Inventory again.
Additionally, the intermittent soft lock when exiting or closing screens was fixed.

Niantic has sent an email to its players across all games, inviting them to reserve their in-game username as their Niantic ID.

A Niantic ID is a new feature introduced by Niantic to unify the identity of players across all of Niantic’s games and experiences. As Niantic stated, the Niantic ID will unify all of a player's existing in-game usernames.
This does not mean that your in-game usernames will change. Rather, your existing (and future) in-game usernames will be connected to your Niantic ID.

Are you interested in Niantic Lightship, the framework behind Ingress Prime and Pokemon GO? Then join us today at 6 pm UTC, at the top of the next hour, when Niantic officially releases the Lightship platform and makes it available to developers. Niantic has planned a 40-minute livestream in which Lightship and its function will be introduced and some demos will be shown. The main point of Lightship is of course the POI network as well as the AR features, which can already be found in Niantic games.

The 9th anniversary of Ingress is almost here! Niantic has now released details around the festivities.

The following bonuses will be active from November 15 at 17.00 UTC to November 29 at 17.00 UTC:

• 2x AP on all actions.
• 2x L8 resonators via portal
• Cooldown of the drone reduced to 9 minutes
• Doubled hackoutput of resonators and power cubes from portals of your faction
• Double hackoutput of XMPs and Ultra Stikes from enemy portals
• Increase inventory capacity to 2180 items for non-subscribed agents/Double items for subscribing/renewing subscription.

Plus the annual medal awarded after the event based on your level:
- Bronze: Level 3
- Silver: Level 9
- Gold: Level 13
- Platinum: Level 15
- Onyx/Recursed: Level 16

Also, there will be some special bundles in the store which can be bought during the event, including the NL-1331 Medal of 2020.
