30 Agents (15 per Faction) will be selected across Levels, regions and languages to beta test Ingress and help Niantic with valuable feedback on the game.

After their commitment for a change, pledged following the rise of the anti-racist movement #blacklivesmatter, Niantic has undertaken actions aimed at "supporting our Black and underrepresented minority employees, empowering all employees to combat systemic racism and social injustice, and creating powerful, scalable impact through the culture, ideas, and role models we help to create."
As one of the multiple results of this effort, Niantic has created the Black Developers Initiative program (BDI), providing access, opportunity, resources, and mentorship to Black game and AR developers.
"The BDI mission is to fund new projects from Black game development teams - ranging in size from newer, indie teams to larger, veteran studios - for the purpose of building game prototypes that can live on the Niantic platform. Selected BDI teams will be provided with funding for five months of development, executive mentorship, and development support from members of the Niantic team. A new update has been released for Ingress Prime!
v2.65.1 brings the previously announced Portal History feature to the Ingress app!
After all Agents will have access to this new update, the markers you can see in the picture above will be added to the game to highlight visited, captured or scanned Portals.
N.B. The team is already aware of a known issue where Portal History rings disappear when a Portal's Level changes, and are working on a fix.
The only bugfix reported in the changelog involves the regional scoreboard timer, which went negative after a septicycle ended.

This is how the new Portal History looks like in the newest update! Red shows Portals you have captured, Purple is portals you have visited, and Yellow shows all portals you have claimed Scout Controller at. With this update, the markers for the volatile Scout Controller portals have been hidden from the normal map view unless you enable the Scout Controller layer.

Agents have reported that a Japanese game news company has interviewed Brian Rose and posted the transcript on their website. In it, Brian discusses the new C.O.R.E subscription and portal history, as well as future plans.
- The Portal History feature is planned to be enabled in scanners tomorrow, February 17th.
- Niantic is working on a Drone Mark II
- Plans to make Ingress easier for new agents are on their roadmap
- Anomalies will return once it is safe to do so, but Niantic is evaluating ways to have an XM Anomaly under the current situation.

🇮🇳 During the European night, Niantic announced a new Wayfarer Challenge for India, spanning from March 16th 2021 at 00:00 a.m. IST until March 26th 2021 at 00:00 a.m. IST.
Agents level 10 and higher can participate by reviewing Portals in the Indian territory, setting their home or bonus location in Wayfarer.
Just like the previous Poland Wayfarer Challenge, three reward tiers will be rewarded during the Holi Festival weekend based on the number of new Wayspots in the country.
Tier 1 Rewards - 3,000+ New Wayspots approved
20 Resonators and 20 Power Cubes at Agent Level (up to L8).
Tier 2 Rewards - 5,000+ New Wayspots approved

According to the post, since the start of 2020, more than 5 million punishments were issued to cheaters across all Niantic games, 20% of them being permanent bans. Furthermore, 90% of players who received their first warning stopped cheating afterwards; a piece of data that Niantic defines "encouraging".
The company stated they have invested in new technology and are continuously tweaking and improving their existing detection tools in order to assure an accurate detection of cheaters and the minimum amount of false positives possible.
The Fast Track Program, introduced to try and provide a faster response to spoofing cases, has received more than 4000 Fast Track requests, of which ~70% were eligible for an expedited review.
Finally, to address concerns of remote Ingress Portals getting spoofed during Ops, Niantic is introducing new Compartmental Access Level measures which will be explained in more detail in a future Ingress Forum post.
