Niantic has announced the newest Ingress Prime update, the new version is v2.55.1!
The main focus of this version has been the Portal Scan feature which has been made faster by reducing the file size of Scans and removing the encoding screen.
Other bugfixes involve the Keys tab shown while recharging from Portal Keys that would sometimes remain blank, Softlock and overlapping UI on Portal Nominations and the double close buttons on the Dronenet view.
Specifically for Android, a memory leak occurring when scrolling Portal Keys has been patched, and on iOS 14 beta 6 the crash on app start was fixed.
As Niantic always reminds, betas of new OS, both Android and iOS, are not officially supported.
For this update, iOS beta users may need to "allow Ingress access to iOS 14’s new Precise Location permission via the iOS Settings menu."

Fumi, employee for Niantic in Japan, wrote a very interesting article on her personal blog regarding the effort of Ingress Agents in helping with two different but equally challenging situations in our world: the Sars-CoV-2 pandemic and the massive explosion that involved the city of Beirut, Lebanon.
In the first case, Agents from Japan teamed together and are contributing to Folding@Home, a crowdsourcing network which enables scientists to know much more about this common enemy and potentially find a cure against it, but not only that! They organised initiatives for neighborhood safety, cleanup of their cities and blood donations!
In the second case, today agents from all around the world participated in the Beirut Ingress Virtual First Saturday, which had the goal of collecting donations for the Lebanese Red Cross and the International Red Cross Committee. Over 900 agents participated to the event featuring, among the other activities, an auction of swag donated by Agents and the presentation of the Red Cross activities in the city.

Niantic's Casey, after analyzing the feedback from the community, stated in a Wayfarer Forum post that, from now on, all issues with Wayspot photos, reports of abuse and location edits more than 10m can now be submitted via this form.
He also asks to refrain from posting such issues in the Wayfarer Forum moving forward.
"We are working with the Wayfarer team to consolidate all of these into the Wayfarer product itself, which will help to further streamline the process."

When we created this channel, we decided not to post mono-faction Operations due to this channel being Cross-faction oriented, but we think this one in particular deserves a spotlight due to the incredible milestone achieved!
During Saturday night, 2 great link-stars were created in Central Europe. Resistance Agents from Germany, Austria and Slovakia, under coordination of the Czech Resistance (CZRES), executed operation Cepheus, a massive linkstar in Czechia, reaching the maximum of 8399 incoming links, but at times jumping to 8405 and possibly more, establishing the new World Record for links in a single Link-star!!
Though the record was unfortunately limited by the imposed limit on inbound links on a single portal, believed to be established server-side (the delay in responses on the Ingress Prime app is a cause of the insane amount of links created), this raises the bar over the previous record belonging to the Enlightened.
Another massive linkstar happened later that night in Berlin. A multinational team of 105 Resistance Agents created a gorgeous 8378 link-star in operation Endgame Tentacle.
We believe that all the Agents who followed the event live on the Intel Map are certainly grateful for such a great show, and we hope that this record can be crushed again soon! (Who knows? Maybe the Enlightened are already studying a way to do so... 😏)
Congratulations to all the teams involved from the @IUENG staff, and thanks to Agent @Nearh for reporting!

Niantic acknowledged the issues some Agents have in accessing the Intel map.
If you have received the suspension message when accessing the Intel Map, but not the Scanner, you have received a strike. A few Agents may have received it erroneously and Niantic is trying to restore their access to the Map.

Niantic released a presentation article regarding the new Battle Beacons feature. In addition to the gameplay details we saw during the New Zealand and Taiwan tests, we now have access to new information about obtaining and deploying the Beacons.
- Access to purchase the Battle Beacon (5,000 CMU) is restricted to Agents with at least 40M AP. Any Agent can participate in a battle.
- Battle Beacons can be deployed on almost any Portal without a Beacon already deployed. (Fireworks/Frackers will allow Battle Beacon deployment)
- A Target Portal can be inoculated prior to deploying a Battle Beacon, preventing an ADA Refactor or JARVIS Virus from being used during the battle to snipe a Checkpoint; however, the Target Portal will still reverse alignment after each Checkpoint.

New edits to the Ingress gameplay starting October 1st @ 20:00 UTC were announced by Niantic a few minutes ago.
- Portal Recharge won't count towards the Sojourner Medal anymore. Only Hacks, even with the drone, will.
- Only a maximum of 1 L8 resonator and 2 L7 resonators will be deployable.
- Agents will earn 1 Recon Medal point for every Wayfarer Agreement.
All other mechanics remain unchanged until further notice.
⚠️ From the IUENG team, a recommendation to follow the guidelines of your local authority, wear a facemask, wash or sanitize your hands frequently and keep at least 1 (better if 2) meters of distance from others.

Niantic advised that, related to the Intel Map limitations on some Users, Ingress v2.55.1 did not display the Strike 1 Warning Screen, not allowing users to acknowledge it and regain access to the Intel Map. To resolve this, Ingress v2.56.2 will correctly display it, allowing Agents to return using the map.
Agents who received the strike incorrectly have had their strike reversed, and can now access the Intel Map. Niantic specifies that this strike "did not affect every Agent who upgraded to iOS 14 and also affected Agents across different OS versions and devices".
Furthermore, the team identified and banned accounts for various cheating behaviours related to the farming, delivering, purchasing, storing and advertising for unauthorized third party item sellers, and removed said items from the game.
As a reminder, you can appeal a ban if you think it may have been executed in error.
