Niantic has now officially expressed on Wayspots being movable again in a 10 meters radius, explaining the reasons behind their modifications to the edits system.
If you believe a Wayspot should be moved more than this amount, you can start a new thread on the Wayfarer Forum. If you witness an abuse of Location Edits you can report it using this form.

Ingress Prime v2.53.2 has been announced, and will be coming to your scanners in the next few days.
This update's focus is on app reliability under weak signal conditions. Ingress should now be handling slow connections better.
Among the bugfixes, we can see that:
• The FIRE button for weapons is now disabled when no connectivity is detected
• The Scout Controller area displays the Recursed flair only for Recursed Agents (not for everyone)
• On iOS, system gestures from the lower edge of the screen have now immediate response.
• Battery Saving mode is now effective since starting the game, if enabled in the Settings menu.
Make sure to give your feedback on the Forums to receive more and more useful updates!

Today, Agents @juju4492 and @shooters42 met in Saint-Étienne to realize this great cross-faction fieldart in support to the Beirut population.
The design depicts a boat, reminiscent of the port of Beirut, symbolically bringing them our love and thoughts, and the iconic Libanese cedar, also appearing on their flag.

Niantic decided the following 2 temporary changes will be returning to their original values, effective in 1 week, starting Wed, Aug 26:
- Portal decay rate will return to its original 15% per day, to increase the Portal turnover rate
- Portal hack burnout will return to its original 4 hacks, and can still be increased through Multi-Hack mods if Agents want to hack the same Portal repeatedly.

Niantic announced the newest version of Ingress Prime: v2.54.1!
In this version, some validation is implemented for Portal Scans. The Scanner will now detect excessive darkness and lack of movement.
Niantic also stated their intention of reducing Scan encoding time in future releases. Scout Controller Onyx will also be lowered to 12,000 points.
As a measure to reduce spam on the COMM, Agents with levels 1-7 will not be able to post messages from the Intel Map, only via the Scanner App.

Niantic's Casey has made the roadmap for Wayfarer in 2020/2021 public!
- Fall 2020
• Improving Rating Display to a 4-tier performance indicator. The current traffic light indicator can be misleading (yellow actually means 'decent', not 'at risk')
• Changing the 'No more reviews available' message to be more accurate and friendly. The current one is not an error, but it looks like one.
• Introducing Image Review, which will prepare Niantic games to use the actual best picture, not just the most voted one
- Winter 2020/2021
• Rejection criteria remodeling to reduce much of the confusion reported. Criteria won't change, but hopefully it will be clearer when to reject of approve a Portal.
• Introducing Criteria page to review examples and guidelines after the criteria remodeling.
• Improving the Showcase to highlight great Wayspots and help reviewers learn by example. Submitter's codename will be displayed in the showcased Wayspot.
• Finally, Updating the Review Interface to help improve the flow. Some questions will be changed from stars-based answers to 'yes/no/unsure' answers.

Today marks 2000 days since the creation of the Sojourner Badge!
Although many Agents unfortunately lost their streak due to the lockdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic around the world, some others managed to keep their counter going by opening the Scanner and hacking at least a Portal every day since March 5th 2015, more than 5.5 years ago!
Congratulations to every Agent reaching this incredible milestone! We'd love to hear from you in our discussion group!

Niantic's Brian Rose announced that Ingress has been added to Niantic Social's game list once again!
The Ingress team is now working to add the Niantic Social profile directly to the Ingress Agent profile screen, which will be completed in the next couple of updates.

The main focus of this version has been the Portal Scan feature which has been made faster by reducing the file size of Scans and removing the encoding screen.
Other bugfixes involve the Keys tab shown while recharging from Portal Keys that would sometimes remain blank, Softlock and overlapping UI on Portal Nominations and the double close buttons on the Dronenet view.
Specifically for Android, a memory leak occurring when scrolling Portal Keys has been patched, and on iOS 14 beta 6 the crash on app start was fixed.
As Niantic always reminds, betas of new OS, both Android and iOS, are not officially supported.
For this update, iOS beta users may need to "allow Ingress access to iOS 14’s new Precise Location permission via the iOS Settings menu."

Fumi, employee for Niantic in Japan, wrote a very interesting article on her personal blog regarding the effort of Ingress Agents in helping with two different but equally challenging situations in our world: the Sars-CoV-2 pandemic and the massive explosion that involved the city of Beirut, Lebanon.
In the first case, Agents from Japan teamed together and are contributing to Folding@Home, a crowdsourcing network which enables scientists to know much more about this common enemy and potentially find a cure against it, but not only that! They organised initiatives for neighborhood safety, cleanup of their cities and blood donations!
In the second case, today agents from all around the world participated in the Beirut Ingress Virtual First Saturday, which had the goal of collecting donations for the Lebanese Red Cross and the International Red Cross Committee. Over 900 agents participated to the event featuring, among the other activities, an auction of swag donated by Agents and the presentation of the Red Cross activities in the city.

Niantic's Casey, after analyzing the feedback from the community, stated in a Wayfarer Forum post that, from now on, all issues with Wayspot photos, reports of abuse and location edits more than 10m can now be submitted via this form.
He also asks to refrain from posting such issues in the Wayfarer Forum moving forward.
