A new version of Ingress Prime, v2.52.1, has been announced. No new features as this update fixed Agent-reported issues with the Ingress app and Mission Authoring Tool.
• Fixed softlock when recharging Portals after removing a Portal Key from a Key Locker or Capsule more than once, and after recycling a Portal Key
• Fixed Mission Authoring Tool access for Ingress accounts created with Ingress Prime
• Updated Mission Authoring Tool with options to Sign in with Apple, Facebook, or Google
• Only show Portal Scanning tutorial once instead of before each Portal Scan
• Show loading icon on Portal Keys until Resonator health has finished loading
• On iOS, Medal achievements should now pop up on the Map Screen
• Fixed haptics or vibration duration when approaching a Mission waypoint
• Updated COMM activity message when Fireworks are used

Agent @Mad_Relique in our discussion group reported Niantic testing out Battle Beacons! Here is what we can deduct from these screenshots:
Battles are divided in 5 3-minute intervals that will award respectively 1-2-2-3-4 points to the winning Faction. To win these points, one Faction needs to own the Portal at the end of the "checkpoint". The Faction with the most points, wins the battle.
After each checkpoint, the Portal is flipped to the opposite Faction and the battle starts over.
Each Battle is categorised from I to IV (as in first category to fourth category, first being the lowest) based on Total Agent Activity to determine the amount of the hacking boost at the end of the battle, valid for both Factions.
The winning Faction, is rewarded by their emblem being displayed on the portal for 4 hours.

Niantic has updated the Paragon, Gold Knight and Silver Knight Hall of Fame Lists based on reviewing the Appeals sent by Agents in the previous days.
The list is final, meaning no more appeals will be considered but, if you think Niantic has missed your previous qualifying appeal, you will have until tomorrow, July 31st @ 0700 UTC, to let them know.

Agent @Tam555 found out that the Badge contains the outline of Portal Locations where Tesserae were obtained, such as CERN and the Sydney Opera House, and posted the list of those places on the Community Forum! We think it's a great design by Niantic and we're fascinated by the incredible amount of details in it!

Players of that other game with Pocket Monsters may know that this feature lets everyone see your codename and level. At release, Niantic will add a control to hide them from your Niantic Profile, while leaving it hidden by default in the meantime.
When the feature will be initially introduced to the game, the Niantic Profile link will only be visible to the Agent owning it and not by other Agents as a privacy measure.
Is this the start of new social features in Ingress such as a friendship system? Stay tuned for more updates!
