The opt-in roll out of Portal Scanning has started!

Today, Level 16 and recursed Agents on Ingress 2.41 in the US will see the SCAN PORTAL button enabled on the Portal Edit screen when they approach a Portal. Agents can currently contribute 200 Portal Scans per 13-day window. Like previous multiphased releases, Niantic will soon open Portal Scanning to more Agents in the coming weeks!

Ideal candidates for Portal Scanning are statues and sculptures that Agents can walk around.

Here you can see the result of Portal Scans done by multiple Agents of the portal  "The Gandhi Monument at SF".

The ability to generate these 3-D point cloud visualizations will help further augmented reality research of the Portal Network, and Niantic look forward to seeing your contributions!

POC's for the NL1331 and Mission Day Events in Utrecht, NL have announced that the NL1331X European Tour will be moved to a later date altogether! We are still waiting for an official confirmation from Niantic, stay tuned for more updates on the topic!

Niantic has officially announced the postponing of all next Events! In particular:

• April 4th: First Saturday
• April 25: Lexicon Hexathlon
• May 9th: Requiem Anomaly in Munich
• May 9th to July 3rd: NL1331X Tour and associated Mission Days

The company is looking for alternate dates in the timespan of 12 months.

✓ A new Boost item will be introduced to help Agents "earn additional AP for 30 minutes", initially set at 2x AP.

✓ The March Optima global challenge will be continued, but the goal has been reviewed to allow Agents to complete the challenge through solo play and responsible distancing from each other: Agents will need to complete 12 Missions for the bronze tier medal.

✓ Temporarily, Deploy of 2 L8 Resonators and 2 L7 Resonators will be enabled to encourage asynchronous Portal Farming.

Niantic has decided to bring some changes to the Portal Network during this Coronavirus outbreak:

• For the Sojourner Medal, a Portal Recharge will count as a Portal Hack.
• Deploy of 2 L8 and 2 L7 Resonators will be allowed
• Portal cooldown reduced to 90 seconds
• Portal Hack burnout increased to 16 hacks

Agents @DarkGodErebus and @InvestigateXM report that the Portal Scan feature has been enabled to all Agents L12+!

Enjoy this new option and help Niantic collect 3D pictures of the Portals (when it will be safe to do so)!

Agents @SrSaga and @TheRedegod have shared with us screenshots of the new item Niantic said will arrive in-game. It's called Apex and will double the AP Agents earn for 30 minutes.

As no announcement was released by the company yet, we do not know if the item is hackable or what will be its price on the in-app store. Stay tuned for more updates on this topic.
