It looks like, with the newest Ingress Prime Update, Niantic may have started looking into blocking custom recoveries for Android Phones. Agent @gollam found out that deleting the TWRP folder from your phone or SD card memory will avoid the block for now. If you don't want to miss your sojourner hack, follow this instruction to be able to log back into the game.

Starting Valentine's Day, Feb 14 at 19:00 UTC to Feb 24 at 19:00 UTC, a global challenge will be issued to all Ingress agents to defeat Didact.
During the global challenge window :
2X drop rate of ADA Refactor
2X drop rate of JARVIS Virus
2X AP for resonator destroyed
2X AP for link destroyed
2X AP for field destroyed
A Didact Field Challenge medal will be awarded to agents who accomplish the following milestones during the global challenge window:
Bronze: 100 fields created
Silver: 300 fields created
Gold: 800 fields created
Agents can also track their progress via a Didact: Control Fields Created stat on their agent profiles. Additionally, a temporary Didact loadout kit (8,000 CMU) will soon become available on the in-app Store with L1 Resonator x200, Common Heat Sink x8, SoftBank Ultra Link x3
This month, there are two global challenge goal tiers:
1. BASE: 5,500,000 control fields established
2. STRETCH: 8,000,000 control fields established
Successfully defeating Didact by meeting either the BASE or STRETCH goals by Feb 24 at 19:00 UTC will result in the continuation of the following modifications:
BASE: 2X drop rate of ADA Refactor; 2X drop rate of JARVIS Virus continues to Mar 2 at 19:00 UTC
STRETCH: 2X drop rate of ADA Refactor; 2X drop rate of JARVIS Virus; 2X AP for resonator destroyed; 2X AP for link destroyed; 2X AP for field destroyed continues to Mar 2 at 19:00 UTC
Failure to defeat Didact will result in the temporary drop rate and AP exploit ending on Feb 24 at 19:00 UTC upon termination of the global challenge. Please note that failing to secure the global challenge will not affect Didact medal achievements already awarded to agents during the challenge window.
Status updates with progress towards the global challenge BASE and STRETCH goals will be posted daily in the community forum starting Mon, Feb 17.
Good luck, agents. We are all counting on you.

#Didact Field Challenge: Feb 14-24, 2020
Starting Valentine's Day, Feb 14 at 19:00 UTC to Feb 24 at 19:00 UTC, a global challenge will be issued to all Ingress agents to defeat Nemesis associate, Didact.
Brian has commented:
"Yes, 800 fields created in 10 days versus 2,000 fields created in 14 days is a less difficult challenge. But I'd like more people to try and continue through the duration of the global challenge window versus hitting 500 fields created then giving up with many days still remaining. There's also room to play with difficulty across global challenges, and Dec 2019 fell on the lighter side. If agents feel Didact is also too easy, then we can up the difficulty for Optima, Lucida, and beyond.
Regarding nothing happening if agents fail to successfully defeat Didact by creating 5.5M fields, I haven't yet come to appreciate the idea of punishing players for failing to meet a global challenge goal. I like positive reinforcement or rewarding players when they succeed, so ending the temporary hack and AP bonuses felt like enough here."

The Didact Field Challenge has officially begun! We remind you the tiers for the in-app medal!
Bronze: 100 fields
Silver: 300 fields
Gold: 800 fields
To complete the challenge and defeat Didact we need to create 5.5M control fields globally and to obtain even more advantages, we need to create 8M!
Good luck, Agents!

ofer2, engineer for Ingress in LA, shared an interesting summary about current and future developments regarding the new server infrastructure for the game. It's a very interesting reading (especially if you are interested in the history of Ingress' origins at Google), but for brevity's sake we decided to summarize and focus on the most interesting parts of the article.
Tuesday will mark the start of the next round of testing by Ingress' Engineering team: but what are they testing?
Basically, the rising cost of maintaining Ingress on the same infrastructure as it's always been since the beginning, forced the team to choose between immediately jump to their new platform (on which Pokémon Go was built, which supports many more players and features high performances at a reduced cost), but disappoint the community by delaying new significant game features, or reduce the cost of the "classic" infrastructure by finding reductions within itself.
The second option was chosen, but this meant not taking advantage of some great features that are automatically built-in for games built directly on the newer infrastructure and having to insert them in the game manually.
In order to reduce infrastructure costs, they moved the servers in a low-cost computing environment, but much work is still in order to make sure all of Ingress' features work perfectly even in this new environment. Tuesday will mark the start of this new round of work. Once this is completed, Intel and client servers will be tested, cleared from bugs and deployed. At that point, the team will be able to focus on new features to revitalize the game, some of which are already in the works!
We are grateful to the dev teams for their hard work and transparency, but also excited to see all the new features they will come up with! Stay tuned for more updates on this topic!

Ingress 2.40.1 Release Notes
We are starting the rollout of Ingress 2.40.1 which includes the following changes and updates: UI:
Field creation (and destruction) has surged in the first 48 hours of the Didact global challenge, with agents taking advantage of this first weekend to establish an aggressive start.
Additionally, Niantic will establish a trendline after receiving 72 hours of agent stats, and will include this forecast in future SITREPs. Given the already noticeable surge in agent activity, it is likely that agents will exceed the BASE goal of 5.5M control fields established before the global challenge window closes. Achieving the STRETCH goal is still to be determined.
BASE TARGET: 5,500,000 control fields established
STRETCH TARGET: 8,000,000 control fields established

#Didact SITREP 17-FEB: A trendline has emerged based on the first 72 hours of agent stats, and agents are expected to defeat Didact and exceed the BASE target of 5.5M control fields on or around Feb 19. However, it is currently too close to call the outcome of the STRETCH target. If agents maintain current activity through the end of the global challenge window, then they should be able to establish 8M control fields by Feb 24 at 19:00 UTC.
