Agents,
As 2019 comes to an end, we wanted to look back at some of the memories and achievements of this year.
Our community has always been what has made Ingress successful. Although the plans to revamp Ingress First Saturday started in 2018, things really came to fruition in 2019. During the last twelve months Agents organized over 4169 Ingress First Saturday events. 145,443 Agents attended these community-organized events. In total, Agents walked in total over 14,000km during Ingress First Saturdays.
In addition, Agents organized 99 Mission Days and approximately 40,000 Agents from across 36 countries attended. Agents even organized a Mission Day at Sea cruise to ports around the Caribbean like Grand Cayman Island! 3,500 Agents also attended 50 NL1331 events. The team traveled to 16 different countries around the globe. For the summer European NL1331 trip, the team drove almost 3,600km in total collecting XM and doing research along the way.
2019 also saw the dramatic conclusion of the Osiris sequence which started in 2018. Fifteen Anomalies occurred during February and March as part of the Darsana Prime series. The sequence ended with three massive Anomalies taking place in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on May 4th, Amsterdam, Netherlands on May 11th, and Chicago, IL, USA on May 25th. The Resistance were ultimately the victors of the overall Osiris sequence.
As one sequence ended, a new threat emerged -- Nemesis. Who or what Nemesis is still seems a bit uncertain. One thing is for certain, they are not from our universe. The Nemesis sequence kicked off on July 27th with Myriad, followed by Umbra on October 12th. The Nemesis sequence is far from over. The Requiem Anomaly will be held on May 9th in Munich, Germany.
In 2019 we also launched the Ingress community forums (community.ingress.com) as a way for Agents to communicate outside of the game and find the latest updates and announcements directly from Niantic. In the 6 months since itโs been active, more than 25,000 Agents have joined the Community!
2019 was a successful year because of you, Agents! We look forward to all of the new exciting changes coming to Ingress in 2020. See you out there!

A lot of you are reporting to have done more than the bronze medal threshold, and the medal didn't appear on the scanner.
Without any official announcement, we suppose that the medal will appear at the end of the event.
We will keep you updated if Niantic posts something.

2020 Event Update
Agents, The battle against Nemesis continues in 2020. As promised last week, below is a list of cities for the events of the first half of 2020.
๐๐ Agent @wellamo shared with us this wonderful screenshot: a total of 50 agents from both factions gathered to create this beautiful cross-faction field art in Turku, Finland. The artwork of a canoeing man and a sunset was created to commemorate their beloved agent, a true outdoorsman and a paddler FlyGPS420 who suddenly passed away a month ago.

The @IngressUnite flashmob continues!
Every month, IFS locations all around the world participate and exchange greetings to celebrate unity via Ingress even if physically far apart.
IFS locations that sign up will be assigned a random sister location to greet in a photo, a video or whichever way you can come up with!
The organizer, @NikaKor has setup the handy @IngressUniteBot, through which you can register, ask any questions and send the greetings at.
It's not strictly necessary to participate as a IFS location, but it's required to be a group ;) Registration is open until December 28 @ 23:59 UTC!

Excellent start. If agents' current pace is maintained, trendline indicates they are expected to defeat the Umbra Global Challenge on or around 24-DEC-2019.
For new recruits joining the fold, work with friendly agents in your local cells to take advantage of 3X AP for deploying eighth resonator slots, and 2X AP for destroying enemy resonators, links, and fields.
Next SITREP to be posted here in approximately 24 hours.

Brian Rose comment on the Ingress forum:
The 13 chapters and NEMESIS medals are meant to display a spectrum of colors that represent each character or archetype, shown here.
The artwork for 2019 and Q1 2020 medals was completed earlier this year. I hear you about the faction colors, but small team, lots of open tasks, and I'm prioritizing new work. Going forward, we've taken this feedback into account and will be more mindful about what colors we use for the next series following NEMESIS.
wrt difficulty, I have a different opinion on how we should be using global challenges to encourage long-term gameplay than I've seen in some of our previous events. I too like a challenge, but I don't feel every event needs to set a target of a small percentage success rate. I feel like helping more people stretch and earn a gold medal doesn't hurt those who felt it was super easy. But if I've been stuck at Level 10 and have been medal-locked for some time, these kinds of events might keep me in the game longer and feel more invested in the game. The highest tier global challenge medal is the equivalent of gold, not onyx, and we can tune each event so that some are more or less difficult than others.
Lastly, I dislike negative reinforcement or punishments for failure in global challenges, so I designed the outcome where success means the 3X AP for final or eighth resonator slot deploys continues through First Saturday, and failing to defeat the Umbra challenge means the temporary bonuses end. For Jan, I like the idea of setting global stretch goals for additional rewards for those who want to go above and beyond.
