#Anomaly2020
Niantic have seen your requests for information about Ingress events in 2020. As they work to finalize the exact locations, they wanted to announce the event schedule for the first half of next year. Here is what you can look forward to:
Perpetua Hexathlon: February 29th (15 global cities)
Lexicon Hexathlon: April 25th (15 global cities)
Requiem Anomaly: May 9th Munich, Germany
They plan to release the February Perpetua Hexathlon cities next week. All of these events will have free onsite and offsite participation tickets with medals awarded for ticketed participants.

#Anomaly #2020
[...] After Umbra, I felt we needed to change the anomaly series event format. Some of the features I missed were ways for more players to contribute to the anomaly other than remote recharging — off site; as well as an afterparty with official merch and opportunities to hang out with the Ingress team — on site. In a nut shell, if we're going to organize Niantic-hosted events, and if we're going to use Niantic-hosted events to help our team generate revenue, then they need to be worth it. Umbra didn't meet the quality experience I strived for.
For 2020, we're doubling down on scalable, competitive events that meet our goals to bring people together, and events where players in multiple regions across multiple dates can contribute scores to the overall anomaly total. We need some time to refine what shape these events might take, and we're currently playtesting battles for portal control, portal ornaments and volatile portals, captured mind units from connected cells via Regional Scores, and more.
Additionally, we're organizing a small number of Niantic-hosted events with an official afterparty, official merch, and opportunities to meet our Niantic team. The first of this Niantic-hosted event type will be in Munich, DE on May 9. H2 2020 Niantic-hosted events with official afterparty, official merch, etc. will be announced after we confirm venues.
Yes, there is currently one Niantic-hosted event scheduled for H1 2020, but there will also be additional flashpoint events — a new scalable, competitive event format (separate from the hexathlon) — that are designed to enable more players to participate together as a faction, and contribute to the anomaly series.
Finally, to repeat something I shared with our team: Events are core to Ingress; they make the game better. They're something I look forward to, they engage our most passionate fans, and they bring our community together. We want to enable even more scalable, competitive events in 2020, and on top of this, we're also going to organize several tentpole Niantic-hosted events in countries where we have the most Ingress players.
To many more adventures on foot with friends,

#December #Deploy #Challenge
Agents,
From December 20th, 1800 UTC to December 30th, 1800 UTC, we need your help in defeating Umbra. A global challenge has been issued to all agents to deploy 30,000,000 unique resonator slots before the Global Challenge window ends on December 30th.
For the duration of this special event, the following modifiers to resonator deployment will be in effect:
- 3X AP for final (8th) resonator slot deployed
- Each agent can deploy up to two L8 and two L7 resonators per portal
To counterbalance the effects on deploys, NEMESIS has ensured the following AP surge will also be in effect:
2X AP for resonators destroyed
2X AP for link destroyed
2X AP for field destroyed
A new metric will be enabled in your scanner at the start of the event. You may have to deploy your first Resonator in order for it to show up. As a reminder, this event is for deploys only. Upgrading a Resonator will not count as a deploy. Personal medals can be unlocked even if Global threshold isn't met.
In addition, agents are able to unlock the following global reward by deploying at least thirty million resonators that will continue through Monday, January 6th, 1800 UTC:
3X AP for final (8th) resonator deployed
The First Saturday Bundle for 50 x L1 Resonators will be available to purchase during this event.
Make sure to follow along our official Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram channels for the latest updates, and visit the Ingress Forums to strategize with fellow agents. Good luck!

What's happening: Any purchase of CMU is causing the Store to freeze on the 'Purchase in progress' screen and disallow subsequent purchases.
Your payment will process and your items will successfully be added to your inventory, however this issue will prevent subsequent purchases of any item following the CMU bundle.
Workaround: Restarting Ingress will clear the error message that you're seeing in the Ingress Store but you will not be able to make additional purchases.

Farewell Agents! - RedSoloCup
Agents, For over seven years, Ingress has been part of my daily life.
A quick update on the Umbra Deploy Challenge to address some of your questions:
1) Only deploys (not upgrades) will count towards the 30M threshold.
2) The 30M threshold is NOT total unique deploys. It is cumulative deploys from all Agents during the event.
3) Upgrades and deploys count as the same action for the individual medal. If you deploy to slot 1 then upgrade slot 1, that will count as a single deploy for you. If someone else deploys to slot 1 then you upgrade slot 1, it count as deploy for both Agents.

Agents,
As 2019 comes to an end, we wanted to look back at some of the memories and achievements of this year.
Our community has always been what has made Ingress successful. Although the plans to revamp Ingress First Saturday started in 2018, things really came to fruition in 2019. During the last twelve months Agents organized over 4169 Ingress First Saturday events. 145,443 Agents attended these community-organized events. In total, Agents walked in total over 14,000km during Ingress First Saturdays.
In addition, Agents organized 99 Mission Days and approximately 40,000 Agents from across 36 countries attended. Agents even organized a Mission Day at Sea cruise to ports around the Caribbean like Grand Cayman Island! 3,500 Agents also attended 50 NL1331 events. The team traveled to 16 different countries around the globe. For the summer European NL1331 trip, the team drove almost 3,600km in total collecting XM and doing research along the way.
2019 also saw the dramatic conclusion of the Osiris sequence which started in 2018. Fifteen Anomalies occurred during February and March as part of the Darsana Prime series. The sequence ended with three massive Anomalies taking place in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on May 4th, Amsterdam, Netherlands on May 11th, and Chicago, IL, USA on May 25th. The Resistance were ultimately the victors of the overall Osiris sequence.
As one sequence ended, a new threat emerged -- Nemesis. Who or what Nemesis is still seems a bit uncertain. One thing is for certain, they are not from our universe. The Nemesis sequence kicked off on July 27th with Myriad, followed by Umbra on October 12th. The Nemesis sequence is far from over. The Requiem Anomaly will be held on May 9th in Munich, Germany.
In 2019 we also launched the Ingress community forums (community.ingress.com) as a way for Agents to communicate outside of the game and find the latest updates and announcements directly from Niantic. In the 6 months since it’s been active, more than 25,000 Agents have joined the Community!
2019 was a successful year because of you, Agents! We look forward to all of the new exciting changes coming to Ingress in 2020. See you out there!

The @IngressUnite flashmob continues!
Every month, IFS locations all around the world participate and exchange greetings to celebrate unity via Ingress even if physically far apart.
IFS locations that sign up will be assigned a random sister location to greet in a photo, a video or whichever way you can come up with!
The organizer, @NikaKor has setup the handy @IngressUniteBot, through which you can register, ask any questions and send the greetings at.
It's not strictly necessary to participate as a IFS location, but it's required to be a group ;) Registration is open until December 28 @ 23:59 UTC!

Excellent start. If agents' current pace is maintained, trendline indicates they are expected to defeat the Umbra Global Challenge on or around 24-DEC-2019.
For new recruits joining the fold, work with friendly agents in your local cells to take advantage of 3X AP for deploying eighth resonator slots, and 2X AP for destroying enemy resonators, links, and fields.
Next SITREP to be posted here in approximately 24 hours.
