Ingress Japan Employee, Fumi, had an extremely interesting visit to the NL-1331X Vehicle and published a complete report on her personal blog!

This awesome "XM Detection Vehicle" is Niantic's most advanced mobile laboratory and is fitted with computer screens, lights, a big panel that indicates the status of the NL-1331 Portal, and a lot of Ingress-themed details all over it!
Here are some pictures she took, along with the original blog entry (in Japanese)!
You now know what to expect at the next NL-1331 events, which are yet to be organised!

Picture descriptions, left to right, up to down
1. Entry Door
2. PC screens in the interior
3. Portal State light board
4. Livery

Thanks @InvestigateXM for the report and @asatte666 for the original finding!

Agent @modos189, one of the developers of the new version of IITC, contacted us to collaborate on an article that would explain the history of this incredibly useful and controversial tool.

He has created a detailed article in which he explains what IITC is, why some Agents might decide not to use it and why so many do instead, the history of the tool development, the people that alternated in carrying on the project and why some bans occurred in December 2013.

Finally we can read what the state of this tool is now, where it is headed and what are the plans for the future.

We would like as many agent as possible to be informed about the tool, especially if you are against it or a convinced supporter, to see the points of view of the other opinion, as we think that this article is neutral and very well detailed.
Thank you @modos189 for your help!

Hi Agents,

Thanks for your participation in the Dreamer 1 decoding challenge.

We’ve been watching the leaderboard and are aware that some of you have solved the challenge and entered the correct passcode but aren’t appearing there
. It appears as if this is specific to any Agents who entered the passcode via Intel Map.

The team is aware of this issue and looking into resolving it ASAP.

In the meantime, we’re investigating options to address the leaderboard issue for any affected agents. I’ll provide updates on this discussion thread as they become available.

Thanks for your understanding!

is there really the possibility of new space in the inventory?
What do you think? Do you really need more space?

The team solved the problem for future redeemers, but was not possible to recover missing redemptions.

Starting Monday, Lawson and Circle K Power Cubes will be changed into a new XM construct named the Hypercube. The functionality of will be the same as the previous two XM constructs. Any Lawson or Circle K Power Cubes you have in your inventory will be automatically updated. You may see the Hypercube early if you redeem a passcode containing a Circle K or Lawson Power Cube at the moment.

Hi folks,

Firstly, thanks to everyone who has provided input and shared their reactions to this unfortunate issue. I have been back and forth with our product team about this and, while they fully understand everyone’s frustration, it’s not currently possible to add anyone affected to the leaderboard. For that, I’m really sorry. I know many of you put a lot of work into solving this challenge.

We will be implementing is a second leaderboard that will be normalized, tracking your progress beginning with the second decoder challenge, and will exist alongside the original leaderboard, which will continue to track progress from the beginning of the challenge. We know that this isn’t a perfect solution but we hope this will help you have a more fair basis for comparison, while also keeping the full results for those who were not subject to the issue.

Finally, I want to remind you that this doesn’t completely knock you out of the competition, as the challenge will use your 8 best solve times, so you still have many more chances to get a great leaderboard score (or place highly in an individual challenge).

Again, our apologies for the issue and not being able to recognize everyone's efforts, but we do hope that you enjoy the challenges and wish you great success in the upcoming rounds.

#Anomaly2020

Niantic have seen your requests for information about Ingress events in 2020. As they work to finalize the exact locations, they wanted to announce the event schedule for the first half of next year. Here is what you can look forward to:

Perpetua Hexathlon: February 29th (15 global cities)
Lexicon Hexathlon: April 25th (15 global cities)
Requiem Anomaly: May 9th Munich, Germany

They plan to release the February Perpetua Hexathlon cities next week. All of these events will have free onsite and offsite participation tickets with medals awarded for ticketed participants.

#Anomaly #2020

[...] After Umbra, I felt we needed to change the anomaly series event format. Some of the features I missed were ways for more players to contribute to the anomaly other than remote recharging — off site; as well as an afterparty with official merch and opportunities to hang out with the Ingress team — on site. In a nut shell, if we're going to organize Niantic-hosted events, and if we're going to use Niantic-hosted events to help our team generate revenue, then they need to be worth it. Umbra didn't meet the quality experience I strived for.

For 2020, we're doubling down on scalable, competitive events that meet our goals to bring people together, and events where players in multiple regions across multiple dates can contribute scores to the overall anomaly total. We need some time to refine what shape these events might take, and we're currently playtesting battles for portal control, portal ornaments and volatile portals, captured mind units from connected cells via Regional Scores, and more.

Additionally, we're organizing a small number of Niantic-hosted events with an official afterparty, official merch, and opportunities to meet our Niantic team. The first of this Niantic-hosted event type will be in Munich, DE on May 9. H2 2020 Niantic-hosted events with official afterparty, official merch, etc. will be announced after we confirm venues.

Yes, there is currently one Niantic-hosted event scheduled for H1 2020, but there will also be additional flashpoint events — a new scalable, competitive event format (separate from the hexathlon) — that are designed to enable more players to participate together as a faction, and contribute to the anomaly series.

Finally, to repeat something I shared with our team: Events are core to Ingress; they make the game better. They're something I look forward to, they engage our most passionate fans, and they bring our community together. We want to enable even more scalable, competitive events in 2020, and on top of this, we're also going to organize several tentpole Niantic-hosted events in countries where we have the most Ingress players.

To many more adventures on foot with friends,

Brian Rose

Brian Rose in the comments: "Yes, there will be additional opportunities other than being onsite at the Niantic-hosted event in Munich, DE to acquire the anomaly medal."

#December #Deploy #Challenge

Agents,

From December 20th, 1800 UTC to December 30th, 1800 UTC, we need your help in defeating Umbra. A global challenge has been issued to all agents to deploy 30,000,000 unique resonator slots before the Global Challenge window ends on December 30th.

For the duration of this special event, the following modifiers to resonator deployment will be in effect:

- 3X AP for final (8th) resonator slot deployed
- Each agent can deploy up to two L8 and two L7 resonators per portal

To counterbalance the effects on deploys, NEMESIS has ensured the following AP surge will also be in effect:

2X AP for resonators destroyed
2X AP for link destroyed
2X AP for field destroyed

A new metric will be enabled in your scanner at the start of the event. You may have to deploy your first Resonator in order for it to show up. As a reminder, this event is for deploys only. Upgrading a Resonator will not count as a deploy. Personal medals can be unlocked even if Global threshold isn't met.

In addition, agents are able to unlock the following global reward by deploying at least thirty million resonators that will continue through Monday, January 6th, 1800 UTC:

3X AP for final (8th) resonator deployed

The First Saturday Bundle for 50 x L1 Resonators will be available to purchase during this event.

Make sure to follow along our official Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram channels for the latest updates, and visit the Ingress Forums to strategize with fellow agents. Good luck!

What's happening: Any purchase of CMU is causing the Store to freeze on the 'Purchase in progress' screen and disallow subsequent purchases.

Your payment will process and your items will successfully be added to your inventory, however this issue will prevent subsequent purchases of any item following the CMU bundle.

Workaround: Restarting Ingress will clear the error message that you're seeing in the Ingress Store but you will not be able to make additional purchases.
