Agents,
As we move into the second half of 2019, we’d like to share some updates that we’ve made to the Ingress Prime Scanner. We have been hard at work calibrating our technology in order to bring you an improved Agent experience.
Our goal with UI Update 1 is to bring more clarity to interactions throughout Prime. We are enhancing the readability and consistency of visuals while addressing Agent feedback. These changes should help Agents navigate the interface with more confidence and ease.

For example, we have included information text below our carousels to provide more context on what actions users should take in relation to the screen that they are in. New and experienced Agents alike should benefit from these instructions.

Another area we have improved are the Portal modification rarity indicators (commonly referred to as MODs) in Portal Interaction. Using the consistent three-stripe-rarity indicator, along with adding rarity color in the deployed border, should help Agents identify these at a glance. This change was also implemented to address an accessibility issue for those with color vision deficiency. We continue to strive for inclusivity and want all of our Agents to have an enjoyable play experience.

Within MOD detail, the enlarged layout makes for an effortless interaction and the slot numbers aid in better communicating deployment plans with fellow Agents. The Scanner has also been upgraded to display MODs within Key Detail to give players more information on the portals they are inspecting.

An exciting parity feature we have included in this update is XM prediction. When managing your inventory, it now displays the calculated XM return you will gain from recycling. This value will change in color to signal if your prediction will exceed your XM tank capacity.

Before starting to summarize the rules for better understanding, we'd like to take a brief moment to put a spotlight on an initiative Niantic came up with to help make Anomalies better Events: the team invited the July Anomaly POCs to cooperate with them in determining the Anomaly game types and customizations!
We believe this is the right type of inclusion most of the community wanted to see, and we are really happy about this choice!
#Myriad Anomaly Rules: Explained!
Chapter 1: Overview
The Myriad Anomalies will consist of three challenges taking place in a three-hour period. Scores for two of these challenges will be recorded with measurements every 20 minutes while one will have the score unveiled at the end of the Event, giving the final result.
The three challenges are:
· Shard Battle (100 points)
· Longest Link Path (100 points)
· Unique Portal Hacks (40 points)
for a total of 240 points per city.
The winner faction of each city will gain the location/time of a strong restocking Portal in that city (given to the winning faction's POCs), while the winner faction of the Myriad Series (tie broken by summing the score of all cities) will gain first choice of a Myriad Key Advantage, usable in the Nemesis Sequence Finale in 2020 (the other faction will get second choice).
All Portals within the Anomaly Zone will have a red, yellow or purple Ornament during the Anomaly. The playbox will be neutralized approximately 20 to 90 minutes before the Anomaly not changing flipcard inoculation. This neutralization may occur multiple times before the Anomaly.

#Contest #Prizes #Nemesis #Glyph
Agents,
As of a few days ago, a new glyph has entered the portal network, classified by the scanner as "Nemesis". The glyph journal want to research that glyph, but unfortunately, it is very, very rare. This is why they want to call on the help of agents again and are running another contest.
To participate, you need to glyph hack a portal and screenshot all glyphs during the result screen of the glyph hack and send the screenshot to @InvestigateXM. It doesn't matter if you didn't draw all glyphs correct, if it dosen't contain the Nemesis glyph or if you have already submitted the same sequence, as long as all glyphs are visible. Screenshots where not all glyphs are visible are not counted.
**The contest starts now and runs until Tuesday, July 23rd, 12PM PST**
After the contest is over we'll count all submitted screenshots. The top 3 agents who submitted the most glyphs and the agent nearest to the average will be able to pick from the prize pool, with the 1st agent going first and the average last.
The prize pool consists of character badges for your scanner: 2 Akira'17, 1 Jarvis'18 and Jahan'18.
Happy glyphing!

Niantic is changing their policy on actions taken if ToS or Ingress Community Guidelines are violated.
The new system will make use of three disciplinary strikes.
• Strike 1: Warning
• Strike 2: Suspension for approx. 30 days
• Strike 3: Termination
If you receive any strike, access to Scanner [REDACTED] will be disabled and you'll only be able to read and acknowledge any punishment on Ingress Prime.

#Myriad Anomaly Rules: Explained!
Chapter 2: Shard Battle
During periods in between measurements, Shards and Research Portals (highlighted with a decorated hexagon in yellow for the Enlightened and in purple for the Resistance) will spawn in the playbox. Goal of the challenge is to make a Shard cross as many unique Research Portals of your Faction as possible.
The measurement period will be structured as reported on the picture below: at minute 3 of the measurement period, the first jump will happen, followed by jumps every 5 minutes (at minutes 8, 13 and 18). Jumps may happen up to a minute before or after these times.
At minute 20, Shards and Research Portals will dematerialise to reappear at the start of the next measurement period.
• To make Shards travel to another linked portal, both origin and destination Portals must be of level 4+ (doesn't matter if the portal is not fully deployed).
• Shards will not backtrack to Portals they've been to in the previous 7 minutes
• If many links originate from a Portal holding a shard, it may jump along any of those links and if many Shards are on a Portal, they may jump along different Links.
• If no link is present, and the Shard was still for at least 7 minutes, it will teleport to a random nearby Portal.
Everytime a unique Research Portal is visited by a single Shard, 1 point will be awarded to the Faction owning the Research Portal independently from the color of the Portal. 100 Anomaly Points will then be distributed to the two teams on a percentual basis.
