Do you think your city has what it takes to host a Niantic Live Event in 2020? If so, post your suggested city park to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #NianticLive2020 and tell us why you think it would make for a great event.
We also suggest teaming up with other players in your city, or even with local officials (Parks Departments, Tourism Boards, Local Representatives) to submit an official nomination. There’s a form on the NianticLive2020 website for those official and group submissions. Deadline for nominations is October 1, 2019.
Please note, submitting does not guarantee that Niantic will do an event in your fine city. But we’ll promise to give your nominations serious consideration!

#AbaddonPrime Anomaly Rules: Explained!
Niantic released new rules for the upcoming Anomaly Events! We will try to make them simpler and to summarize the most important points in the next few days.
Overview
In this Anomaly, Agents will compete to claim final control of the Osiris Universe for their Faction. Agents of the winning Faction who received an Osiris Sequence Anomaly medal will receive the exclusive Osiris Sequence victory medal as well.
3x AP and an in-game Badge will be granted to anomaly participants (sent after the event).
1.5x AP will be granted to all users in the Anomaly period.
No global challenge is set for this Series.
Advantages
Having won one Anomaly Series and a Darsana Lens each, here are the advantages for the two factions:
ENL|Known measurement times and portals with same ornament in ONE city of choice
RES|Hank Johnson will drop artifacts to the Resistance Agents in a city of choice
BOTH|Can command ONE neutralisation of all enemy portals in ONE city of choice (but Niantic hints this might not work...)
Faction Leaders' choices to be made public by Niantic.
Field Preparation
The Anomaly Zone will be ornamented in red for the duration of the Event, and will be neutralised 20 to 90 minutes before the Anomaly start. (Again, it may not work... Genoa 🙄)
Links or field covering or crossing the Anomaly Zone may despawn in any moment.

Challenge 2: Shard Battle
During Anomaly Periods, Shards will spawn on some Anomaly Zone Portals. Some others, will be marked as Research Portals (purple for the Resistance, yellow for the Enlightened). Shards and Research Portals positions will change at the end of every measurement.
Approximately every 3 minutes, Shards will try to jump between linked portals, provided both are L4 or higher. Whenever a Shard reaches a UNIQUE Research Portal, 1 point is assigned to the relative Faction, regardless of the Faction controlling the Portal. Unique visits are reset when the measurement ends.
• Shards won't backtrack to Portals they've been to in the past 7 minutes.
• If rogue actions are recorded, Niantic may move Shards to Portals of their choice.
• If a Shard spawns on a Research Portal, it won't score any points.
The highest score for each Faction in any measurement will be their final score for the challenge. This score will be compared with the other Faction's creating scores on percent base. (100 maximum points).
The Faction which wins the Shard Battle at each city will align a Niantic researcher to their Faction.

Niantic announced a new Global Event! Starting at 10AM PDT (UTC -7) April 25th, Dark XM will appear in the Scanner!
Portal Decay will have more effect and to counter this, we will have to create long Links between Portals!
A new Medal will be obtainable for this event and it will have 3 tiers: 5km, 50km, and 250km TOTAL. A new Scanner statistic will be enabled to track your progress!
If we manage to reach 400.000 total Portal Captured over the current baseline, the threat will be stopped, and the Bonus AP for June's First Saturdays will be increased to 3x!!
Challenge ends on April 30th, 10AM PDT (UTC -7)

"Ingress Prime is ending support for devices running on Android 4 KitKat. Agents using devices with this operating system will no longer be able to access Ingress after July 1, 2019. We encourage Agents on Android 4 to upgrade their operating system to keep access to Ingress."

Andrew Krug has clarified in the Agent Academy Group that, if the 400k Portal Captured over the baseline won't be reached, the Medal for cumulative Link distance won't be awarded.
You can start right away working on the Link goal though, you don't have to wait until 400k captures are reached.

2. Put at least 10 lbs in your ruck and load up that #Ingress mission banner you've always wanted to try, with at least 10km walking distance built into the banner.
3. Post your completed adventure photos to instagram before May 31 with the following hashes: #bannerruck #goruck #ingress @goruckingress Include photos of the ruck, your completed banner screenshot, and proof of at least 10km walked from your tracking app of choice. Don't forget to follow us on Instagram @goruckingress !

More clarification from Andrew Krug on the Dark XM Event starting in exactly 19 hours! On his group, he posted these points (which we shortened for brevity):
1: The baseline measurement will be taken at event start. (X)
2: Players need to capture and own X + 400,000 more Portals to unlock the Dark XM Medal.
3: X + 400,000 Portals do NOT need to be owned on April 30th. Whenever X + 400,000 happens that will unlock the medal.
4: Daily snapshots of how close to the goal the players are, will be provided (times tbd)
5: The tiers are 5km, 50km, 250km. They are bronze, silver and gold. They will count towards leveling.
6: You can achieve the gold with one link or lots of links. Distance is cumulative
7: You can start making links immediately at 10am PDT on April 25th. You do not need to wait until the threshold is achieved.
