A heartbreaking news has reached us in the last hours: as most of you know, the cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris is burning. The roof, the spire, and the bell tower have fallen.
The firemen on the site affirm that while 2/3 of the roof are destroyed, the outer shell and the structure of the cathedral can be saved, and the fire is coming slowly under control. One fireman was also seriously injured in the operations.
It's truly painful to see such an important symbol for France and its people so deeply damaged.
We'd like to express our solidarity with the French Agents in this difficult moment. We hope that the most of this architectural masterpiece can be saved and the destroyed part can be rebuilt, despite the huge amount of historical value lost.

A message from the Parisian Ingress Community
As many of you may already know, the Notre-Dame cathedral of Paris has been ravaged by flames earlier this week. The fire started under the spire in the evening, and by the time people noticed it was already too late. The spire fell, the roof and the wooden structure entirely burned, the towers almost collapsed. Firemen managed to restrain the fire and further extinguish it during the night. The most part of the building is safe, but some invaluable 800+ years old art is forever lost.
As art and history enthusiasts, many ingress Parisian players were deeply hurt by the loss of centuries of history and art, and although we will definitely rebuild, it will never be the same.
Notre-Dame was each year host for more than 12 million tourists, and many of you might already have visited it. We hope many of you can still do in the future.
As a gesture of commemoration, Parisian players (both ENL and RES) will be building a double starburst on Notre-Dame on Monday, April 22nd, between 8PM and 10PM (UTC+2). If you're mourning with us for this terrible event, feel free to join the initiative and create a starburst, be it on a cathedral, church, or any other place of cult or historical landmark that you cherish. Let this be a reminder that we all shall enjoy art and history while we can, because there might never be a tomorrow for these unique pieces of human craft.
If you decide to join this initiative, you can send pictures of your starburst to @Tiphainedv!

A message from an Ingress First Saturday Enthusiast!
Hello to IngressFS organizers from around the world! I have one great idea how to diversify and improve our events!
I invite you to participate in a small #IngressUnite flashmob. The main point of the flashmob is to say hello to another city that also takes part in the flashmob. Greetings can be transmitted during a general photo at your event. This can be done in any form, whether it be a poster, in a photo or a video. In order to take part in the movement, sign up in this form (in English) before April 23.
https://forms.gle/vcVK3npGz8GsR9KB9
On April 27, each participant will get one random city from among the participants. You will need to say hello for the specified city. For all questions please contact me at

After the update to version 2.20.3 (bugfixes), Scot Frank confirms on reddit that Ingress Prime 2.21 is coming soon™️!
"I just checked and 2.21 has finished QA successfully. Next is a few more internal checks and controls then we can hopefully start 10% Android roll out this week. IOS is more variable due to Apple review times."

Abaddon Prime Shards are live at Des Moines, Iowa, USA for Niantic's test! It's going to be a proper competition lasting two hours. Rules are much like a Shard Battle, but with measurements every 20 minutes and jumps every 3/4.
@IUENG
@IUENG
Shards are jumping, points are being scored, Ornaments are changing color and Research Nodes are travelling in the playbox! Seems like the test is proceding well, let's hope it yields the expected results!
@IUENG
@IUENG
Agent @dragonballzeke reports us that the Shards test in Des Moines ended with a tie! Both Factions scored 6 points which, converted, give a score of 50 - 50!
Thank you to everyone on the ground for helping out with the test! We are sure Niantic has collected lots of data from it!

#Live #Events
Do you think your city has what it takes to host a Niantic Live Event in 2020? If so, post your suggested city park to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #NianticLive2020 and tell us why you think it would make for a great event.
We also suggest teaming up with other players in your city, or even with local officials (Parks Departments, Tourism Boards, Local Representatives) to submit an official nomination. There’s a form on the NianticLive2020 website for those official and group submissions. Deadline for nominations is October 1, 2019.
Please note, submitting does not guarantee that Niantic will do an event in your fine city. But we’ll promise to give your nominations serious consideration!
Meet you out there,

Niantic also posted an interesting video explaining their key criteria for choosing a city to host their Events! Check it out at https://youtu.be/gBG3GtmqBfc
We also listed them here:
- Is there a big, beautiful park of 50-100+ acres? (0,2-0,4 km^2)
- Is the park centrally located?
- Do they allow festivals in the park?
- Is it in a safe area?
- Do you get a strong cell phone signal at the park?
- Is there wireless connectivity?
- Are there dates available to hold an event?
- Is the city a place that is financially accessible?
- Is the park close to hotels and public transportation?
- Does the city, including the Police Department, support the idea of an event there?
- Are there other, competing events going on during the planned event dates?
- Is there enthusiasm of the player community in that city?
- What is the density of Portals?
- Is the park in an architecturally or historically interesting area?
- Will we have the ability to load in and load out commercial vehicles and physical builds/decor?
- Can we close roads to car traffic?
- Can non-players still use the park while we host our event?
- Is there parking available?
- What is the typical weather for the park on the dates being considered?
