Niantic announces their initiatives for Earth Day 2019!
Because of the huge success of last year’s Earth Day campaign, the company has teamed up again with Playmob, gaming-for-good engagement platform, and 15 NGOs to host cleanups in communities near you, working to shatter last year’s goals.
They’re inviting all Niantic players to participate and help battle important environmental issues. If you’re a player that wants to participate on your own or with a small group, tag @NianticLabs using #AugmentingReality to tell them about your cleanup, and they’ll count your efforts towards the participation totals.
Prizes will be awarded for Agents participation!
If 2,000 players attend and cleanup: Increased probability of getting heatsinks, multihacks, shields (all kinds) and power cubes (all kinds including Lawson)
If 5,000 players attend and cleanup: 2× AP for linking
If 7000 players attend and cleanup:
2× AP for fielding
Sign up and help or nominate more NGOs: https://niantic.playmob.com/

- Better graphical performance on lower-end devices
- UX: larger targets for buttons, including the Capsule renaming button
- UX: Disabled disambiguation during item deploys and while in Remote View for non-Portal items
- UI: Tweaked various colors for numerous buttons, button states and texts
- UI: Removed “L” from Portal level number
- UI: Made the dropped item icons in the disambiguation screen more neutral

The iOS 2.20.2 version of Ingress Prime on iOS has a special note about Portal nomination. Initially it was extended to all devices, now restricted to some countries (Canada and Australia are an example).
iOS updates have already been ahead of the Android ones in the past, notably on the Capsule Renaming Update (later removed from the iOS patch notes) will it happen again in the future?

Toast
Waka waka waka
From now to April 2 at 10am PST (UTC-7) you'll notice your AP warming up to 2x for Destroying & Deploying Resonators. Frackers will output a multiple of 4 for 5 minutes instead of their normal behavior, just enough time to get to a delicious crisp. Be sure to glyph some Toast! 🍞

A message from the glyph journal:
Agents, we are sure you've seen new glyphs emerge from the portals within the last hour. The glyph journal would love to document them! Therefore we'll do a little contest.
To participate, screenshot all glyphs during the result screen of a glyph hack and send it, together with the portal level, portal faction and, if possible, all glyph names as they appear in the scanner to @InvestigateXM.
The agent who'll send in the most screenshots will receive a character badge of the Darsana Prime anomalies of their choice (Hank Johnson, Jahan, Roland Jarvis, Devra Bogdanovich). The contest runs as long as the toast glyphs are available or until April 2, 10PST, whichever comes first.
Happy glyphing!

As we prepare to give G+ our final goodbye, the Ingress account has posted their final message.
"Agents,
Change is coming.
We have detected a dangerous force in this universe, a threat from a dark and mysterious force which we are calling "Burnt XM". This substance has permeated the Osiris Universe and threatens all Agents, from both Factions. It has been growing for some time -- lurking in the dark places, slowly catalyzing carbon -- until it finally overwhelms our technology. We believe that it is on the verge of collapsing our communication channels here. Quite frankly, Agents, we believe that our messages here may soon be toast.
We don't know what the future will hold. We will continue to explore the nature of XM, and to fight against those who would abuse its potential. And we know that our success will always, always rely on the strength of our Agents. If we can no longer reach you on G+, we will try again, and again, through every universe, until we can connect once more. Look for our signals in the future -- we will be looking for you.
Good luck."
Thank you for your service, Google Plus. You will be missed!

Google Plus has officially been shut down for consumer accounts and posts are being deleted in these very moments (luckily this channel has a sort of backup of Niantic's😉).
It has carried us through six years of Ingress as the main channel for Niantic to spread their voice among the Agents, it has hosted many local Ingress communities, mono and cross-faction events and was home to the pictures of our best moments!
It's been a good run: from the whole Ingress Community, farewell G+!
