#DarsanaPrime Anomaly Rules: Explained!

Niantic released new rules for the upcoming Anomaly Events, with interesting new mechanics! We will to make them simpler and to summarize the most important points.

Scoring Pt.1

The Anomaly will be divided in 3 challenges running at the same time over the 3 hours of the Event. However points can be assigned by an extra Hacking Challenge and a Global Challenge.
Measurements for the 3 main challenges will happen at these times after the start of the Anomaly:
0:30, 1:00, 1:20, 1:40, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 2:45, 3:00.

Challenge 1: Capture Battle
In this challenge, the Faction controlling the most Portals in the Anomaly Zone wins. Regular portals are worth 1 point, Volatiles are worth 3 and will constantly change position over the course of the Event. The highest score for each Faction in any measurement will be their final score for the challenge. This score will be compared with the other Faction's creating scores on percent base. (100 maximum points)

@IUENG
Niantic updated the score for the Global Hacking Challenge and defined the perks for the winning faction!
The #DarsanaPrime XM Anomaly POCs of the winning Faction will be able to choose one of the following outcomes:

Energy
The Power Cube Drop rate will increase by 100%
Stasis
Double mitigation from links and XMP damage will only be at 75% of normal.
Instability
Half mitigation from links and XMP damage will be 125% of normal.
Loyalty
Opposite Faction portal hack output will decrease 50% and same Faction portal output will increase 20%.

If the POCs can’t come to a consensus, the final choice will be random, or chosen by Niantic.

Scot Frank, Product Manager at Niantic explains what will be the near future for Ingress Prime:

Our top priority remains implementing the remaining large parity features such as Portal Submissions and Global and Regional Scoring. As we work on this, we are also focusing on improving performance and increasing battery life. We made some progress towards that goal with the introduction of the beta battery saver mode in version 2.15. At the same time we are constantly working on addressing overall usability and bugs.
Another big project for us this year is working hard on a transition to a new server, which upon completion will enable us to develop new features and gameplay that we think you will enjoy.

Scoring Pt. 2

Challenge 2: Longest Exponential Path
In this challenge, the Faction with the longest link path in the Anomaly Zone wins. Link paths will have to start from specific "Start Portals" (identified by a yellow ornament for the Enlightened and by a purple one for the Resistance) and will only score points if it connects Anomaly Zone Portals. A path cannot loop on itself.

The score for a specific link path is its length in kilometers, but the length of a single segment is multiplied by its ordinal number (first link is worth x1, second link is worth x2, third link is worth x3, ...)

The highest score for each Faction in any measurement will be their final score for the challenge. This score will be compared with the other Faction's creating scores on percent base. (100 maximum points).

Andrew Krug has answered 93 questions on February's AMA! Here are the most important answers.

Ingress Prime
• Battery management and Glyphing have improved a lot in latest versions: try them out and see for yourself!
• Viewability outdoors and in sunlight is being worked on by Niantic devs.
• Capsule renaming on the iOS patch notes was a typo. This feature is not coming in 2.17
• Daily and weekly quests might get implemented in Ingress, but not any time soon.
• Ingress [REDACTED] won't be any longer updated

Events
• Announcements for the Events in Q3 and Q4 2019 are coming soon
• Niantic swag will be in Primary Anomaly sites only. This will be also for the next series.
• Niantic's online store might get revamped and host new items: a suggestion was for X-Fac packs to usa as prizes at IFS events.
• GORUCK Stealth OPS won't have Anomaly Intel as a prize.
• Indicators for Primary and Satellite events might come to the Ingress Website, and all the bugs regarding the mobile view on iOS will be fixed soon.

NIA OPS/Policy
• Official Niantic events are not win-trading. These are the rules.
• Any tickets submitted in the old Help Center have been responded to or moved to the new system. If you haven't received a response, please submit a new ticket.

Miscellaneous
• A need for a new hub platform for news (with G+ closing) was identified by Niantic, no news on which platform it will be yet.

#DarsanaPrime Anomaly Rules: Explained!

Niantic released new rules for the upcoming Anomaly Events, with interesting new mechanics! We will to make them simpler and to summarize the most important points.

Scoring Pt. 3

Challenge 3: Artifact Collection
In this challenge, the Faction with most sets of media items spawned by the Portal Network, wins.
Certain Portals, in the Anomaly Zone will be highlighted with a blue symbol, and upon hack will drop a media item which is part of a set. For example, the colour set might contain "Red", "Orange", "Yellow", "Green" and "Blue". Categories may vary to include Greek letters, or many others.
The location at which each artifact spawns will change constantly.
Agents are required to keep the hacked medias in their inventory for well after the Anomaly ends, to allow for counting.
A faction's raw score is the number of full sets held by its agents, and divided by the players of that faction registered at the anomaly, in base 100.

"A [...] class action lawsuit against Niantic could remove or change a number of Poké Stops and Gyms in the popular augmented reality game. (Pokémon Go, Ed.)

If it’s approved, Niantic will have to take measures to prevent placing Poké Stops or virtual game items on private property in the future. It will have to maintain a form on its website where people can ask for the removal of Poké Stops or Gyms if they are within 40 meters of their residential properties [...] and work to avoid placing new Poké Stops or Gyms on single-family residential properties going forward."

Will this influence Ingress too? What do you think?

Niantic released new rules for the upcoming Anomaly Events, with interesting new mechanics! We will to make them simpler and to summarize the most important points.

Additional Points

1) Overlay: Empower your faction
Each registered and checked-in Agent will have his Unique Hacks monitored (only on Anomaly Zone portals), the highest and lowest 15% will be removed and the Faction with the highest average will grant 75 points to their total score!

2) Global Challenge
During the Anomaly Weekend, a global challenge will be active: the faction with the highest number of Unique Captured Portals will grant 2 points (on February 23rd) or 1 point (on March 23rd) to their faction's Victory Points.

@IUENG
The Resistance POCs for the #DarsanaPrime have chosen the benefits to introduce in Ingress, having won the Global Unique Hacking Challenge.

The chosen option is Loyalty: Opposite Faction portal hack output will decrease 50% and same Faction portal output will increase 20%.

We'd like to inform our readers that the decision is not yet official until Niantic's confirmation tomorrow. This is only the report of the POCs.
Unless Niantic changes its mind, the modification will regard both Factions.

Follow up

Niantic agreed to implement several new features and policies under the settlement, which will be binding for the next three years. Homeowners can already have pokémon gyms or PokéStops removed from private property, but Niantic now promises to resolve complaints within 15 days, remove any stop that’s located within 40 meters of that property, and maintain a database that will prevent a new gym or PokéStop from popping up nearby. Beyond private homes, park authorities will also be able to request that gyms and PokéStops only appear during open hours.

The company will also add a series of warnings for players. If more than 10 people show up for a raid in Pokémon Go, a message will flash on their screens, reminding them to “be courteous to others and respectful of their real-world surroundings.”[...]

We'll continue to monitor the situation to see if the same settlement will affect Ingress and it's portals too.

Thanks Agent @GothLaz for the report!

@IUENG
Agents,
we received the Niantic confirmation!

The #DarsanaPrime Anomaly Contacts (PoCs) option will change the game between 6:00pm (UTC) on February 19th and 6:00pm (UTC) on March 25th.

"Loyalty": Opposite Faction portal hack output will decrease 50% and same Faction portal output will increase 20%

This effect affects all agents on both sides. Good luck!
