The Aegis Shield and the Quantum Capsule - by PAC

My sources at Visur and IQTech-East just shared some interesting news with me.

At Visur, the technology being used to power the highly desired 'AXA Shield' has been ported to a new XM object called the 'Aegis Shield'. Aegis Shields will replace AXAs in Portal Network Deployment at this time. AXA Portals will likely disconnect from the global Portal Network at some point in the near future. Currently I have no intel on any changes to the functionality of the Aegis Shield.

Over at IQTech-East, Akira's people have acquired the ground-breaking technology that laid the basis for the 'MUFG Capsule,' and will now be distributing it through the Portal Network as the 'Quantum Capsule.' The MUFG Portal Subnetwork is expected to go offline within the coming days.

Will keep you posted if I hear more.

Ingress: +Brent Hollett not yet. When the change occurs inventories will be updated and from that point on the items will be hackable from the Portal network.

Keys to AXA and MUFG branded portals will disappear from your inventory and capsules within a few hours of the portals being removed. This will not affect your AXA shields or your MUFG Capsules which will be converted to Aegis Shields and Quantum Capsules in the near future. Items within your MUFG Capsules will be otherwise unaffected, including keys to other existing portals.

Andrew Krug has answered to 89 questions on this week's #AMA. Here are the highlights:

Anomaly
- European swag packs have cleared the customs. Expect an email in the coming days with more info about refund and distribution
- Nothing has been finalized for Q1 Anomalies yet. Any decision will be announced.
- Andrew repeated that, on the next occasion, rechargers will get their Anomaly badge.

Ingress Prime
- Niantic acknowledges that "reset" was the wrong term to describe what will happen on Prime's launch. They are still exploring different options.
- Niantic is planning on having a beta program for Prime. 50 random players among the enlightened who attended Camp Navarro 2017 will be awarded with 50 slots in the beta

Other
- Character badges will be redesigned in 2018
- The blank email bug from Ingress Operations will be fixed soon
- The change from Google Maps to OSM is permanent. Niantic is still defining the update rate of the game map with OSM servers.
