Gen. Avi Rosenfeld, commander of the IDF's Gaza Division, announced his resignation today.

"It was my mission to protect the Gaza periphery, and on October 7, I failed in that mission," he wrote in his resignation letter.

The Oct. 7 attack highlights that there are no "experts," there are no officials who know better than everyone else.

Everyone missed this, even the people who should have known better than anyone else.

At least some are taking responsibility for that failure.

Benny Gantz has pulled his National Camp party out of Netanyahu's emergency unity government, and called for elections in the Autumn.

Netanyahu responds to Gantz: "Israel is in an existential war on several fronts. Benny, this is not the time to abandon the campaign - this is the time to unite. My door will remain open to any Zionist party that is ready to help bring victory over our enemies."

Netanyahu's government will not fall as a result of Gantz leaving. His coalition still holds a 64-seat majority in the Knesset.

Yesterday, Lebanese terrorists operating out of the coastal city of Tyre fired anti-aircraft missiles in an attempt to bring down Israeli aircraft.

There was never any real threat to the Israeli Air Force planes, and they immediately destroyed the terrorist cell in question.

But needless to say, it would be a major "victory" for these terrorists to actually shoot down an Israeli fighter jet, and they will no doubt continue trying.

NBC reported today that a senior American government official said Israel's rescue operation will likely complicate US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's efforts to negotiate a hostage/ceasefire deal with Hamas.

Blinken is expected in Israel today, for the eighth time since the war began.

During operations in central Gaza, soldiers of the 101st Battalion used a UAV to detect a terrorist armed with an RPG emerging from a tunnel shaft in close proximity to IDF troops.

The soldiers targeted the tunnel shaft and eliminated the terrorist with tank fire.
