If the Gaza war results in a Palestinian state, the message will be clear: Killing Israelis is the way to get what you want.

Israeli forces overnight destroyed the home of a Hebron terrorist who participated in the deadly Nov. 16 shooting attack at the "Tunnel Road" checkpoint between Bethlehem and Jerusalem.

At the time, many feared the attack marked the beginning of a Gaza-style war in Judea.

Dr. Meir Bruchman was arrested and investigated for making social media posts that condemned IDF soldiers as murderers, and for seemingly justifying the rape of Israeli women by Hamas on Oct. 7.

But a court ruled that Bruchman had not broken the law, and permitted him to return to teaching.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the Biden administration is pushing a phased process to bring the Gaza war to an end.

The deal would see Israeli hostages released in stages, followed by the withdrawal of Israeli forces. Hamas would survive, and apparently remain in control of Gaza.

A few hours later, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a video message in which he rejected any form of surrender on Israel's part.

The people of Israel demand total victory, as promised by their leaders.

The IDF released another version of the video from inside the Khan Yunis tunnel where at least 20 Israelis were held in dungeon-like conditions, to give you a feeling for the size of this subterranean facility.

Senior Hamas official Mohammed Nazzal clarifies that a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the withdrawal of IDF forces are not conditions for the release of Israeli hostages.

They are preconditions that must be met before Hamas will even begin negotiating the release of Israeli hostages.

There is no deal to be made with this devil.

A lot of media attention is given to protests in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem demanding the government secure the release of Israeli hostages at any cost.

But, while all Israelis want the hostages returned, most don't agree that Israel should pay any price.

More representative of the Israeli public at large were the remarks of Jewish "settler" leader Eliyahu Liebman during a march in Judea yesterday.

Liebman's son, Elyakim, is also being held hostage in Gaza. But he doesn't want Israel to surrender to Hamas for the sake of his boy.

He said:

"Return the captives to us in a way that sanctifies, and not desecrates, God’s name, in a way so that the nation of Israel will never again face murders or abductions.

“We want the hostages back as soon as possible, but we have a responsibility for the security of the people of Israel in future generations, and therefore, do not conduct deals with our enemies."

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres claimed at the weekend that the death toll in Gaza is "unprecedented during my time as secretary general."

This statement is false.

Guterres has been secretary-general of the UN since 2017.

During that time:

- Tens of thousands, most Christians, killed by Islamists in northern Nigeria

- Tens of thousands killed in Sudan's internal conflicts

- 39,000-49,000 killed in Armenia-Azerbaijan crisis

- 45,000 or more killed in Myanmar's ongoing civil war

- 40,000-50,000 killed in Mexico's ongoing drug war

- Over 80,000 killed in Syria's ongoing civil war

- Over 100,000 killed in the Russia-Ukraine war

- Over 100,000 died in Yemen as a result of ongoing civil war

- 180,000-600,000 died in internal conflict in Ethiopia

Bottom line: Calling the 30,000 deaths in Gaza "unprecedented" is a lie meant to delegitimize Israel's efforts to defend itself.

Officials warn that if war breaks out in the north, Israel could suffer widespread power outages for up to 48 hours at a time.
