‼️ Israel is today facing a renewed political crisis in the midst of war.
Yesterday, it was leaked that the Supreme Court had voted in favor of striking down a new amendment to the Basic Law.
This is unprecedented. The Supreme Court has never dared to strike down Israel's quasi-constitutional Basic Laws or their amendments.
The amendment in question, passed earlier this year, removed the court's ability to strike down government decisions it deems "unreasonable," even if not illegal.
The court decided that stripping it of this power was itself unreasonable.
Members of Netanyahu's coalition are threatening to quit the government over this development.
