Joint statement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz on the destruction of the Hezbollah facility at the Ali Taher ride in southern Lebanon:

This was a strategic terror infrastructure built over two decades, with Iranian funding and planning. The terror infrastructure and the command center on the ridge were designed to serve as the staging base for the conquest of the Galilee, and had observation and fire dominance over Metula and Kiryat Shmona. Their destruction completes the achievement of operational control over the Ali Taher ridge – above and below ground.

More than 50,000 people took part in the central Selichot (repentance) prayers at the Western Wall in Jerusalem last night, on the eve of Rosh Hashanah.

Since the beginning of the month of Elul, around one million worshippers have come to the Western Wall for the Selichot prayers.

Israel’s population reaches 10.3 million ahead of Jewish New Year

Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics reported that the country’s population stood at approximately 10.305 million as of Rosh Hashanah eve, with Jewish and other residents making up 78.3% and Arab residents 21.7%, alongside roughly 304,000 foreign residents.

The population grew by about 124,000 people over the past year, a growth rate of 1.2%, driven by roughly 182,000 births and 50,000 deaths.

Net migration was negative, with the population declining by about 8,000 due to migration. While around 24,000 new immigrants arrived along with 4,000 through family reunification, roughly 57,000 Israelis emigrated, only partially offset by about 21,000 returning citizens.

Earlier this week (Monday), the IDF struck in the Khan Younis area in the southern Gaza Strip and eliminated Ismail Ibrahim Darwish Kandil, a Nukhba terrorist in the military wing of the Hamas terrorist organization.

The terrorist infiltrated Israeli territory and took part in the killing of the Nahal Brigade Commander, Colonel Yonatan Steinberg, during the October 7th Massacre.

US President Donald Trump on Sunday reiterated his believe that Hamas is willing to give up its weapons under his peace plan for the Gaza Strip.

“We got the hostages back,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One. “You know, people forget there’s not a lot of fighting in Gaza. Hamas is now willing to give up their weapons.”

US Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa told the Arabic broadcaster Al-Afdal:

"The Ali Taher ridge has fallen; didn't you see the Israeli flag flying over it?"

Michel Issa is not only the US Ambassador to Lebanon but is himself of Lebanese origin, a Maronite Christian, and a businessman. 

The almost triumphant undertone of his remark is all the more remarkable. For Issa, the sight of the Israeli flag on the strategic high ground in southern Lebanon appears to be less a provocation than a visible sign of Hezbollah’s defeat.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his Rosh Hashanah greetings, saying the two countries had transformed ties into an “unprecedented partnership between two great democracies.”

Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir has ordered a series of steps in response to the film “NAZA,” describing it as “an attack on the State of Israel.”

Zamir said the film was “based on blood libels, deliberate distortions of reality, and grave, false accusations against IDF soldiers and commanders.”

“We will not allow IDF soldiers to be made targets through lies and blood libels,” he added.

"NAZA" is a British-Israeli documentary framing Israel's war against Hamas-ruled Gaza as a genocide. It won the prestigious Special Jury Prize at the recent Venice Film Festival.

Zamir ordered an examination of possible legal steps against the filmmakers, with a focus on whether or not leaked classified information was used.
