Former US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has called out the Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz over an article claiming that Hamas, via Qatar, was ready to make a deal for the hostages already on Oct. 8, 2023, and that it was blocked by the Netanyahu government.
“For the record, this is false. Complete fiction,” wrote Blinken.
The phony report follows another Ha’aretz article claiming Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was informed by the United Arab Emirates days before Oct. 7 of an impending Hamas attack, but chose to ignore the warning. Netanyahu is now suing Ha’aretz for libel.
It is no accident that these articles are being published just a month or so before Israel’s national election.

Israeli Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli said that Israel was “not remotely rattled” by British sanctions, dismissively adding that the name of UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband “escapes me.”
“You have a weak left-wing government for now,” Chikli told the British public, adding that Israel still had “faith in our friends in Britain. Better days will come. We will stand together against the globalists and Islamists who seek to impose Sharia law on you.”

To put evidence to that assertion, the Israel Defense Forces marked International Day to Protect Education from Attack by publishing photos from four schools in southern Lebanon where Hezbollah weapons were found. Some of the schools had hundreds of weapons in them.
Under the Geneva Conventions, once a protected place like a hospital or school is used for military purposes, it is no longer protected.

Security forces sealed a tunnel dug near the Palestinian village of al-Jib, north of Jerusalem, the Israel Police said on Thursday.

Israel’s population reaches 10.3 million ahead of Jewish New Year
Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics reported that the country’s population stood at approximately 10.305 million as of Rosh Hashanah eve, with Jewish and other residents making up 78.3% and Arab residents 21.7%, alongside roughly 304,000 foreign residents.
The population grew by about 124,000 people over the past year, a growth rate of 1.2%, driven by roughly 182,000 births and 50,000 deaths.
Net migration was negative, with the population declining by about 8,000 due to migration. While around 24,000 new immigrants arrived along with 4,000 through family reunification, roughly 57,000 Israelis emigrated, only partially offset by about 21,000 returning citizens.
