The New England Revolution said on Sunday that it “strongly condemn[s] the antisemitic and discriminatory abuse” directed at forward Dor Turgeman by CF Montréal supporters during Saturday’s match.

Turgeman, an Israeli national team player, was targeted with chants of “Death to Israel” and thrown objects during Saturday night’s match at Saputo Stadium.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the people of Gaza must be allowed to leave voluntarily, adding that the only other place on earth from which citizens are not permitted to emigrate is North Korea.

The majority of Gazans, between 50% to 80%, wish to leave the Strip, Netanyahu said during a podcast interview with Israeli historian and media personality Gadi Taub.

“For God’s sake, open the door, let them leave! The countries [say], ‘No, no, we will not accept them so as not to help Israel.’ What about helping the Gazans? Why don’t they have the right granted to billions of people around the world, to move from place to place?” said Netanyahu.

Netanyahu: Israel and US only Western nations willing to fight

In a podcast interview this week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lamented that most in the Western world are no longer willing to fight for their freedoms, values, or civilization.

“Other than Israel and, fortunately, also the United States nowadays, no Western country is willing to fight,” Netanyahu said.

“I spoke with a former commander in the British Armed Forces, a close friend of mine, and he told me they won’t fight even when their own countries come under direct attacks,” he added.

The Israeli leader concluded that “war is a terrible thing that comes with a heavy price … The best of our sons and daughters have fallen. But if you aren’t willing to raise the sword, you’ll be killed. This is the cruel world in which we live.”

Not just the right: Opposition lawmaker backs Gaza resettlement

Member of Knesset Debbie Biton of the centrist party Yesh Atid told JNS that she would support Jewish resettlement of the Gaza Strip, in particular the rebuilding of the Katif Bloc of Jewish communities in southern Gaza.

“If those parts of Gaza can be ours, let them be ours. They used to operate as a bloc and that’s okay with me. But if we sign agreements, we need to respect them,” she said.

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced on Tuesday that Jerusalem had earmarked 113 million shekels ($37.2 million) for developing more than 70 heritage sites across Judea and Samaria.

The historical sites are “an inseparable part of the history of the Jewish people,” Smotrich wrote in a Hebrew-language X post.
