Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Office:

Israel supports President Trump's decision to suspend strikes against Iran for two weeks subject to Iran immediately opening the straits and stopping all attacks on the US, Israel, and countries in the region.

Israel also supports the US effort to ensure that Iran no longer poses a nuclear, missile, and terror threat to America, Israel, Iran's Arab neighbors, and the world.

The United States has told Israel that it is committed to achieving these goals, shared by the US, Israel, and Israel's regional allies, in the upcoming negotiations.

The two-week ceasefire does not include Lebanon.

High-ranking Israeli officials tell local media that the US will take a firm line in the upcoming negotiations and demand an end to Iran’s nuclear program and limitations on its missile program.

But that’s not at all how the ceasefire is being presented in Iran after Trump highlighted Tehran’s 10-point proposal (more accurately, its 10 demands) as the basis for the ceasefire and peace talks.

Israel knows this enemy better than Trump, and there is concern in Jerusalem.

Trump sells the ceasefire as a major success and even a “golden age” for the Middle East. But in Israel it’s seen by many as a strategic failure.

🔹️ The Iranian regime remains in place
🔹️ The enriched uranium remains
🔹️ The ballistic missile threat persists
🔹️ And now Iran will charge ships to traverse the Strait of Hormuz

One thing is clear: Trump has no interest in resuming the war. A glance at oil prices, which fell sharply after the announcement of the ceasefire, speaks volumes.

Trump spins it as a success. But for Israel it seems premature. A lot of effort, for very little substance.

Israel did not go to war to open the Strait of Hormuz or lower oil prices. The strait of was open and oil prices relatively low before the war.

Israel’s clearly stated goals have always been:

🔹️ Eliminate the nuclear threat
🔹️ Eliminate the ballistic missile threat
🔹️ Break the power of the mullah regime (hopeful that it would lead to regime change)

Trump says the first two goals will be achieved in the upcoming negotiations and that effective regime change has occurred because all the previous leaders are dead.

Is this naïveté, or is more going on behind the scenes❓️

There is much confusion at present. What is clear is that for no one but Trump does this appear to be “total victory.”

Israeli opposition lawmaker Avigdor Liberman:

“The ceasefire gives the Iranian regime an opportunity to regroup.

“A deal that does not require Iran to abandon its desire to destroy Israel, its nuclear program, its ballistic missile production, or its support for regional terror groups–will only require us to launch another operation at a later time under more severe circumstances with a higher price.”

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has issued a statement that very much echos Trump’s, but in reverse:

"The enemy has been begging Iran for over a month to stop the Iranian attacks.

“We now inform the Iranian nation that we have achieved almost all the goals of the war - we have defeated the enemy in a crushing manner.

“Following the acceptance by the enemy of all our legitimate demands, we have decided to hold negotiations in Islamabad (Pakistan) that will be concluded within 15 days at the most.

“The Prime Minister of Pakistan informed Iran that the US had accepted these principles as the basis for negotiations and had submitted to the will of the Iranian people.

“This does not indicate the end of the war.

“The negotiations will begin in Islamabad on Friday, April 10. The negotiations will last for two weeks - they can be extended by mutual agreement.

“National unity must be maintained and the celebrations of victory must continue with full vigor.

“If the victory is not translated into a political achievement, we will fight on the battlefield until all the demands of the Iranian people are met.

“Our fingers remain on the trigger and if the enemy makes a small mistake, we will respond with full force.”

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council reiterated the primarily principles of its 10-point proposal upon which the ceasefire and upcoming peace talks are based:

🔹️ Granting special economic status to Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.

🔹️ Ending the war against all members of the axis of resistance.

🔹️ Withdrawal of all American forces from the region.

🔹️ Establishment of a special transit protocol in the Strait of Hormuz that guarantees Iran's dominance.

🔹️ Full payment of compensation to Iran.

🔹️ Lifting of all sanctions on Iran.

🔹️ Release of funds and assets frozen abroad.

🔹️ Approval of all conditions in a resolution by the UN Security Council.

Israeli strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon continue.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf says Israel is breaking the ceasefire by attacking Lebanon, and that this will lead to a resumption of the war.

The IDF warns residents of southern Lebanon that the ceasefire does not include Lebanon and they must evacuate.

Iran was planning to launch a much bigger “final barrage” at Israel last night as the ceasefire went into effect.

But the IDF says it conducted a massive wave of airstrikes against Iranian missile launchers that prevented such a barrage.

The IDF confirms that it has been ordered to cease fire in Iran, but that it remains ready to “respond to any violation.”

Operations in Lebanon continue, the Israeli military stated.

The IDF warns residents of Beirut's Dahieh neighborhood to evacuate ahead of strikes on Hezbollah targets located there.

Bahrain reports that over the past several hours, it has intercepted six missiles and 31 attack drones launched from Iran.

Battle of the narratives

Even though Iran is publicly broadcasting the 10-point proposal it says is the basis for the ceasefire and upcoming peace talks, Trump tells Sky News that the real terms of the deal are not publicly known.

Trump insists America won the war on its terms, and that if Iran breaks those terms the war will resume.

Is the Iranian regime predictably trying to save face, or is America looking to spin “victory” out of a war it no longer has the will to fight?

The coming hours and days will tell.

Either way, the real losers in all of this are the Iranian people who long for freedom but who will continue to live in the dark shadow of the mullah regime.

Iranian media reports an explosion at a major oil refinery. The reason for the explosion is not yet clear.

Kuwaiti officials tell Al Jazeera that Iranian attacks also continue against Kuwait.

The United Arab Emirates was still dealing with Iranian missile attacks less than an hour ago.

The Iranian oil refinery on Sirri Island. Tehran says it was attacked this morning by “hostile forces.”

There is speculation that Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates carried out the strike.

Iranian state television says the ongoing attacks against Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates are retaliation for strikes on Iran’s oil facilities on Sirri and Lavan Islands earlier in the morning.

Iranian state media also blamed Israel and the US for what it called violations of the ceasefire.

All US refueling aircraft have left Israel.

Trump is awake and tweeting, and insists, contrary to Iranian statements, that negotiations are proceeding according to US terms. In particular, he stresses that Iran will no longer enrich uranium.
