Troops from Israel’s elite Alpinist Unit completed a targeted operation to thwart attempts by terrorist organizations to establish a foothold along the Lebanon border.

As part of the operation, the troops operated in complex mountainous terrain, crossing on foot through deep snow from the Syrian Hermon to the Mount Dov area in southern Lebanon to conduct reconnaissance.

Egypt once styled itself as the shield of the Arab world. Now it looks increasingly like a state trying to trade political positioning for financial rescue.

Our latest piece examines Cairo’s failed pressure campaign on the Gulf states, its growing closeness to Iran, and what the fallout reveals about the myth of Arab unity.

The old rhetoric remains. The regional fracture is now harder to hide.

An entire IDF battalion has been removed from operational duty after some of its soldiers detained a CNN crew in Samaria last week.

CNN reported that its correspondent, Jeremy Diamond, and his cameraman were held and allegedly subjected to mild violence while trying to film near an illegal Jewish settler outpost.

Some of the soldiers did speak to Diamond, telling him that what the world calls the β€œWest Bank” belongs to the Jews, and that they were exacting β€œrevenge” for the murder of a local Jewish resident by Palestinian Arabs earlier in the month.

The IDF said the soldiers’ behavior was not in line with the Israeli military’s code of conduct, and that a thorough investigation is being conducted.

Why do these Christians always misrepresent the situation and create a diplomatic incident?

The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem is making a stink in the media over Israel forbidding Easter gatherings at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.

Of course, the way he’s doing it gives the impression that Israel is arbitrarily targeting Christians. He doesn’t say so outright, but he’s smart enough to know that’s how it’ll be picked up by the foreign press.

The truth? ALL holy sites, including Jewish ones, are closed due to the threat of Iranian missiles.

The Patriarch said he’s willing to hold a small private ceremony just to keep the Easter tradition alive, and the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem said it is willing to consider that compromise.

State President Isaac Herzog also stressed that this has nothing to do with persecuting Christians, and that the church and all other holy sites are closed because Israel doesn’t want the Christians to be harmed.

The foreign ministers of Germany, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom issued a joint statement regarding proposed legislation in the Knesset introducing the death penalty for terrorists:

β€œWe express deep concern about a bill that would expand the possibility of imposing the death penalty in Israel. We oppose the death penalty worldwide and call on decision-makers in Israel to abandon these plans.”

The proposed death penalty is understood as a tool to prevent future hostage deals, particularly those in which convicted Palestinian terrorists are freed in exchange for Israeli hostages.
