US unveils weapons buyback plan to help demilitarize Gaza

The United States told the UN Security Council that any lasting peace in Gaza must begin with disarmament — and that includes an internationally funded weapons buyback and reintegration program tied to demilitarization efforts.

US Ambassador Mike Waltz made clear that Hamas must play no role in Gaza’s future governance, and that all terror infrastructure — from tunnels to weapon labs — must be destroyed and not rebuilt.

International monitors would oversee this process as part of a broader peace framework.

❗️Israeli leadership has emphasized that reconstruction in Gaza cannot begin while Hamas remains armed — making disarmament central to any transition.

US President Donald Trump claimed during a cabinet meeting yesterday that “it looks like Hamas is going to disarm.”

His Mideast envoy, Steve Witkoff, chimed in: “They will because they have no choice. They’re going to give up their AK-47s.”

Neither man offered evidence as to why they believe this is going to happen.

And just hours earlier, senior Hamas official Moussa Abu Marzouk told Qatari media that there was no movement toward disarmament:

“Talk on disarming never happened, not for a single moment did we talk about the surrender of weapons, or any formula about destroying, surrendering, or disarmament.

“We haven’t discussed the weapons yet; no one has spoken to us directly about it. We haven’t spoken with the American side or the mediators on this issue, so we can’t talk about what it means or what the goal is.”

Arab media believes the US and Israel will not launch a full-scale attack on Iran, but will instead try to “cut of the head of the snake” by assassinating the regime’s top leadership, including Ali Khamenei and his son, Mojtaba.

Such an operation could create disarray and give the people of Iran an opportunity to return to the streets.

It would also likely result in missile attacks on Israel and American assets by what remains of the regime.
