Israel has blocked Qatar from heading an initiative that aims to eliminate the trade in African “blood diamonds.”

The Israeli veto of Qatar’s candidacy to serve as chair of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme for 2026 comes as Jerusalem has long accused Doha of supporting Hamas and promoting incitement against Israel through its pan-Arab mouthpiece, Al Jazeera.

Israeli Economy Minister Nir Barkat:

“Qatar is a terror-supporting nation, and we have thereby thwarted the election of an enemy of Israel and the world as chair of the Kimberly Process.

“We stand up against the world’s largest supporter of terrorism, the patron of Hamas on the international economic front as well.”

India was instead chosen to lead the initiative.

Deputy US Ambassador Tammy Bruce slammed the world body for its blatant hypocrisy:

Israel to suspend NGO licenses over terror‑linked employees

Starting Jan. 1, 2026, Israel will revoke permits of international NGOs that failed to meet new security and transparency standards after reviews linked some staff to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Affected groups must cease operations by March 1 or appeal.

The move comes after UNRWA, the UN's dedicated organization for the Palestinians, was found to be riddled with Hamas influence and operatives. Video documentation shows UNRWA staff taking direct part in the savage Oct. 7 invasion of southern Israel.
