New Zealand has decided not to accept US President Donald Trump’s invitation to join the newly formed Board of Peace. Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said the government will not participate in the body “in its current form,” which was launched last week and initially focused on supporting Gaza’s ceasefire.

Foreign Minister Winston Peters said regional states are already stepping up to contribute and that New Zealand would not add significant value. He also said the government wants clarity on the board’s scope and stressed that any role must align with the UN Charter, calling the initiative “a new body” with unanswered questions.

Israel will reopen the Rafah Crossing between Gaza and Egypt for pedestrian movement in both directions on Sunday, in line with the ceasefire deal, according to COGAT. Passage will be coordinated with Egypt, require prior Israeli security clearance, and be supervised by a European Union mission, using a mechanism previously implemented in January 2025.

Only Gazans who left during the war will be allowed to return, following multiple screening stages. Exits to Egypt will be monitored remotely by Israel using facial recognition, while entry into Gaza will include an Israeli security check at an IDF-controlled corridor. Israeli officials say individuals linked to terror activity, including senior commanders, will be denied passage.

The Rafah Crossing will reopen for limited movement of Gazans under the terms of the ongoing ceasefire agreement, according to COGAT. Passage will be permitted only under specific humanitarian criteria and subject to strict security oversight to prevent exploitation by terror groups.

Israel’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) tells The Times of Israel that today’s opening of the crossing is “an initial pilot phase,” which is being “conducted in coordination with the European Union Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM), Egypt, and all relevant stakeholders.”

Encyclopedia Britannica removed a map from its Britannica Kids website after backlash over labeling the entire territory of Israel as “Palestine.” The map showed the area between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea with no reference to Israel, following a complaint by UK Lawyers for Israel and an inquiry by The Telegraph.

After the inquiry, Britannica updated the entry to state that “today the State of Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip are located within this area.” UKLFI said the original map echoed the slogan “from the river to the sea,” used by militant groups including Hamas, and argued the content erased Israel’s existence and distorted historical geography.

Iranian members of parliament appeared in Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps uniforms during a public session in Tehran, passing legislation that designates the armies of European Union countries as “terrorist organizations.” The move followed the EU’s decision to list the IRGC as a terrorist group after Iran’s deadly crackdown on protests.

During the session, lawmakers raised IRGC flags and banners calling the Guard “the largest anti-terrorism organization in the world.” Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said European governments acted against their own interests by following the United States. The bill cites Iranian law allowing reciprocal designations.
