When Sultan Mehmet (Muhammad) al-Fatih conquered Constantinople, and entered Hagia Sophia, he saw the author of Durar al-Hukkam, Molla Husrev (Mulla Khusrow) being honoured by the people, and commented, “Behold, this is the Abū Ḥanīfah of his time!”

Three important Shaykh al-Islams (seyhulislam) of the Ottoman Empire in terms of their impact on the Hanafi madhhab:

1) Mulla Khusrow - Molla Husrev (d.885 AH/1480 CE)

2) Ibn Kamal Pasha - Kemalpasazade (d.940 AH/1534 CE)

3) Abu'l Saud - Ebu's Su'ud (d.982 AH/1574 CE)

Barakah in One's Life

Two of the greatest late Hanafis to have ever lived, passed away at a relatively young age, showing the tremendous Barakah that Allah the Almighty placed in their lives; Ibn Nujaym at the age of 44 and Ibn Abidin at the age of 54.

The Importance of Following a Madhhab

I emphasised this in the lecture and I want to emphasise it again, the purpose of this speech is not to attack anyone or to disrespect a tradition. One may not necessarily agree with all the ideas in the speech, and I respect that. Insha’Allah we should maintain respect for each other despite our differences.
