Fakhr al-Dīn al-Rāzī raḥimahullah (d.604 AH) writes under the verse وهذا كتاب أنزلنا مبارك in his tafsīr regarding the field of tafsīr:

يقول مصنف هذا الكتاب محمد بن عمر الرازي وأنا قد نقلت أنواعا من العلوم النقلية والعقلية فلم يحصل لي بسبب شيء من العلوم من أنواع السعادات في الدين والدنيا مثل ما حصل بسبب خدمة هذا العلم
Indeed I have worked upon many revelatory and rational fields of knowledge, thus I did not acquire through any of these sciences the happiness in my religious and worldly life like that which I acquired in the service of this field of knowledge.

The Qur’ān is the most important source in Sharīʿah, despite that, uṣūl al-tafsīr is not covered to a decent degree in the traditional Islāmic syllabus, this course is an absolute MUST for all students. I cannot emphasise enough just how important this course is.

In this unique course, delivered in the English language, Maulana Taahir will be going through his 800-page book on uṣūl al-tafsīr titled Jāmiʿ al-Bayān fī Muhimmāt Tafsīr al-Qur’ān - the book will be printed by the upcoming book-fare in Egypt (January) inshaAllah. Gathered from over 30 books such as Sh. Musāʿid al-Ṭayyār’s sharh on Ibn Taymiyyah’s famous Muqaddimah fi Usul al-Tafsir, Al-Fawz al-Kabir by Shah Waliyullah al-Dihlawi, Yatimat al-Bayan by ‘Allāmah Binnūrī, Al-Tahrīr fī Uṣūl al-Tafsīr by Sh. Musāʿid al-Ṭayyār, Nafḥāt al-ʿAbīr fī Muhimmāt al-Tafsīr by Sh. Muḥammad Shuʿaibullah Khān, Rawh al-Qadir ma’a Qawā’id al-Tafsīr by Mawlana Muhammad Ilyas Himmatnagarī, Qawāʿid al-Tafsīr by Muḥammad Nuʿmān, Ikhtilāf al-Salaf fi’l-Tafsīr by Muḥammad Ṣāliḥ Sulaymān, Al-Tibyān fī ‘Ulūm al-Quran by Muhammmad ‘Alī al-Sabūnī, 'Ulūm al-Qur'ān by Nur al-Dīn ‘Itr and many other books.

Delivered by a scholar well-versed in uṣūl al-tafsīr, this course will, insha'Allah, be tremendously beneficial.

The Need for this Course

We are an ummah that loves the Divine Book given to us; our Qur'an. Perhaps second only to our Athar al-Hadith al-Sharif course, this is the fastest uptake of any course we have done. The course will be delivering the ideas of the experts in this field such as Shaykh Musa'id al-Tayyar, Shaykh Khalid al-Sabt and Shaykh Muhammad Shu'aybullah Khan. We hope to slightly touch on the works of English speaking writers such as Dr. Sohaib Saeed as well.

If anyone is becoming an Aalim (scholar) and is in the fourth year (chaharum) or above, then I please want you on this course. Our darse nizami syllabus does not fully cover the concepts covered in this course and so I urge every student and graduate to please join this course! I'm personally looking forward to it myself! May Allah Ta'ala make it a success and a means of creating the next generation of mufassirun.
