Startup and Startup Ecosystem Builder Designation Application Registration Officially Launched
Pursuant to the Ethiopia Startup Proclamation No. 1396/2025, in order to benefit from the various incentives, supports, and opportunities stipulated under the Proclamation, obtaining the legal designation of "Startup" or "Startup Ecosystem Builder" is essential and a prerequisite.
According to Article 9, Sub-Article (1) of the Proclamation, an application submitted to obtain the designation must be filed through the digital startup platform by completing the form prepared specifically for this purpose and by furnishing all accompanying documents. Accordingly, we are pleased to announce that the designation application registration for startups and ecosystem builders has officially commenced as of July 24, 2026 through the prepared digital platform's detailed information form.

• Fill in all information completely: We advise you to carefully and thoroughly complete all required information fields during registration without omitting any details.
• Previously registered entities: All those who have previously provided information or registered through various channels — since this new procedure is designed to facilitate advance preparation for obtaining the designation, to raise awareness, and to enable information exchange — we hereby call upon you to re-register through the digital platform in this new format.
Post-Registration Process
Pre-Screening:
Once the pre-screening of the completeness of your designation application information is completed and your application is forwarded to the National Designation Committee, you will be notified through this platform and other alternative channels.
Decision:
After your application has been forwarded to the Designation Committee, the designation application and evaluation result will be communicated within 30 days.
