The Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore Suryo Pratomo gave this update that he expects a total of 1,000 tonnes to arrive in Singapore by year-end.

Company fined $5,000 for illegally importing 362kg of fresh fruits and vegetables

In Singapore, fruits and vegetables can only be imported by licensed importers, and every consignment must be declared and accompanied with a valid import permit.

Illegally imported vegetables are of unknown sources and can pose a food safety risk, for instance, when unregulated or high levels of pesticides are used.

Singapore Food Agency's $50 million Agriculture Productivity Fund (APF) was launched in 2014 to help farmers boost yields and increase production capabilities to meet Singapore's 30 by 30 goal of producing 30 per cent of local nutritional needs by 2030.

GroGrace is 650 sq m (about the size of 1½ basketball courts), with four growing floors, and is about four times more productive than conventional indoor farms with its ability to produce 70kg of leafy greens per sq m.
