On this day in history, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Founder of the Republic of Turkey, passed away at 9:05 a.m. Adolf Hitler’s condolence message to the Turkish nation on Atatürk’s death was as follows;
"His Excellency, the President of the Turkish Republic. The news of the death of Atatürk has affected me deeply. With his death, we have lost a great soldier, a distinguished statesman, and a historic personality who played a decisive role in the creation of the new Turkey.
I convey to Your Excellency on my own behalf, and on behalf of the German people, my deepest condolences."
