An Unforgettable Week of Learning and Impact
This week has been nothing short of extraordinary for me as a GI & Hepatology fellow at St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College. We had the privilege of conducting a stent campaign for patients with esophageal cancer—an initiative that was as fulfilling as it was impactful.
What made this experience truly remarkable was the presence and guidance of Professor Mark Topazian, a world-renowned gastroenterologist from the Mayo Clinic. His commitment to advancing GI care in Ethiopia, his humility, and his unwavering passion for teaching have left a deep mark on all of us. May he live long and continue to inspire generations of physicians around the world.
I also want to sincerely thank Dr. Miftah, our beloved mentor and constant source of support, and Dr. Melik T., who traveled from the U.S. to be with us—bringing fresh perspectives and boundless energy to the team.
A heartfelt thank you to all the GI Unit staff—our amazing nurses, techs, and cleaning team—whose hard work behind the scenes made this campaign a success. Your dedication and kindness never go unnoticed.
We also had the opportunity to attend an insightful lecture focused on problem-solving in esophageal stenting. It was an amazing, case-oriented session that deepened our understanding and practical approach to managing complex scenarios.
Grateful to learn from the best, and even more grateful to serve with such compassionate and selfless professionals.
