Apart from your valuable participation, We would like to thank you all for signing the “Global Detwin with China Campaign” paper petition to help conducting a nationwide, public inquiry into cities partnerships involving foreign communities in countries with significant public sector corruption e.g. the PRC and establish an independent advisory committee that provides recommendation and guidance on city diplomacy by assessing the terms and potential security threats of current sister city partnerships. We will then pass the signatures to London for allocation and submit to the Parliament through MPs.

In addition, there will be a screening of “Love in the Time of Revolution” in November. Please stay tuned for further announcement.

Last but not least, We strongly urge everyone to donate to the “Banyan Tree Aid” to provide emergency financial support for incarcerated individuals to get through their hardships.

各位香港人，大家好!
相信大家都有留意上星期日曼城手足喺中國大使館外示威，遭到大使館人員粗暴對待。不但文宣被毀，更甚者大使館人員(可能包括駐英國大使)將手足強行拖入使館範圍，對佢拳打腳踢(見連結一)。如此粗暴野蠻，違反文明社會秩序，無視言論自由既行徑相信大家喺香港早幾年都感受良多，但勢估唔到大家嚟到英國之後我哋竟然仲要擔心自己既言論自由同人身安全! 中共無視英國本地法律，肆意妄為，公然喺眾目睽睽底下攻擊手足，再加上早前有報導指中共早已喺英國全國不同地方設立公安辦公室(見連結二)，在英港人以至本地人都人人自危! 是可忍，孰不可忍，香港人係時候行動，向本地人揭示中共暴行，聲援曼城手足!

Leeds Stands with Manchester Operation

Hi everyone,

You may be aware that last Sunday, October 16, some Hongkongers were physically assaulted by Chinese consulate staff during a peaceful protest in front of the Chinese embassy in Manchester. The staff, including the Chinese ambassador, came out from the consulate and destroyed protesters’ publications. They even dragged one of the protesters into the premises and tried to beat him up (See link 1). Hongkongers are familiar with these brutal actions during the protest in Hong Kong three years ago, but can we tolerate that happening again in the UK? The CCP ignores law and order in this country and randomly assaults people on the ground in Britain. It is totally unacceptable to every UK citizen. In addition, there are reports concerning the secret police stations set up across the nation by the CCP(See link 2), which is definitely a threat to democracy, freedom and safety of everybody in the UK. It is time for action! We ask for your participation in our operation this Sunday. Tell all Leeds citizens about the Chinese ambassador’s barbaric act and show our support to the protestors in Manchester!

To all participants taking part in the “Leeds Stands With Manchester Operation” yesterday:

Thank you all for your participation in yesterday event. We have collected over 150 signatures for the “Detwinning Sister City Relationships Petition” and promoted the “A Letter to MP” movement.
Although we made contact with only a few hundred people, we believe that they can spread the word to their friends and family, and there will be more and more people who, particularly the British, are aware of the brutal acts of the CCP. We all have deep feelings about the totalitarian CCP and its evil deeds in Hong Kong. The British, though, might not feel the same way as everything transpired so far away from them. The attack at the Manchester Chinese consulate (we are sorry that the protesters were harmed) is definitely a chance for the local community to recognise how violent, disrespectful and barbaric the CCP is. People who stopped and listened to our story yesterday were shocked by the violent acts of the CCP and agreed that it is unacceptable in any civilised country. Your effort plays a vital role in bridging Hongkongers with the British, and we will keep speaking out for Hongkongers and gaining support from the locals!

The event is over, while the attack in Manchester is still ongoing. We can still write to our MP to raise our concerns over the attack and let them speak on our behalf.
