It is the 34th anniversary of the June 4th massacre today, Hong Kongers have persistently mourned for many years. Since the dictatorial CCP implemented the National Security Law in Hong Kong, all dissenting voices were silenced.
This year, the police surrounded the Victoria Park in Hong Kong, including armored vehicles. Hong Kong people are no longer able to illuminate the light of conscience in Victoria Park. Therefore, we held an event in Leeds today where both Hongkongers and local people attended to show their support. Many parents also brought their children to participate so that the next generation can understand the evil acts of the CCP. We are here to let the authoritarian regimes know that people's pursuit of freedom will not end.
We thank all those who attended the candlelight vigil for June 4th in Leeds today, carrying on the unwavering spirit of the Hong Kong people. Today, not only did we mourn the democratic martyrs but also connected with anti-communist individuals from around the world. We sincerely appreciate the phone interview with Jens Galschiøt, the sculptor of the Pillar of Shame, and the video clips from student leader Zhou Fengsuo and the mothers of Tiananmen, as well as the sharing by Uncle Wong, Ann from Amnesty International and participants at the scene. We firmly believe that as long as the spirit of the Hong Kong people is passed down, the spirit of striving for democracy and freedom will continue to prevail, and democracy will eventually triumph.

612四週年活動 - 《雖為自由人，未忘籠中鳥》

昔日，一班追求民主、自由、公義嘅抗爭者為著理想嘅香港而戰，或被補，或清算，有被判入獄，有仍要定時到警署報到，有流亡海外，更有下落不明，籠中鳥就好比喻仍活在港共政權下，受逼迫的人。

列斯手足連線將於6月11日舉行612 四週年活動，希望藉活動提醒移英港人不忘一眾籠中鳥，繼續支持及支援他們。

612 4th Anniversary Rally "We will not forget them"

The protestors who fought for freedom, democracy and justice in the past few years were arrested, sentenced, humiliated or even gone missing. They are like birds in the cage, their freedom is restricted by the totalitarian Hong Kong Government and CCP.

Hongkongers in Leeds will hold the 612 4th Anniversary Rally and Photo Exhibition on 11.06.2023. We will never forget those who scarified, we will continue to support and stand with them even we are in another part of the world.

Thank you all for participating in the "612 4th anniversary We will not forget them" event organised by Hongkongers In Leeds yesterday, despite the continued threat of the National Security Law imposed by the Chinese Communist Party. The event was held to commemorate the 2019 protests against the extradition bill and to show continuous support to our fellow imprisoned protesters who has lost their freedom.

We would like to express our gratitude towards Bonham Tree Aid for their presence and sharing during the event. Their dedication to helping our fellow imprisoned Hongkongers and their families is truly inspiring and we are thankful for their contribution towards human rights and democracy.

Also, we are grateful to the exiled couple in Taiwan, Mr and Mrs Tong, and the two "caged birds" for sharing their stories with us. After listening to their feelings, we may have found ourselves to be one of the more fortunate ones. Participants were able to understand their plight more deeply and think about how we can support them in a free society.

In addition to the rally, a street booth was organised at Briggate as part of the event. The booth aimed to display the protests happened since 12 June 2019. This was a vital initiative to showcase the atrocities committed by the CCP in Hong Kong.

Despite facing the challenges, Hongkongers continue to unite and fight for their freedom. We encourage all those who desire democracy and freedom for Hong Kong to continue to stand up and speak out against injustice. Together, we can work towards a brighter future. Fight for freedom, stand with Hong Kong. See you all on 721!
