Q: As Jesus taught in the temple and preached the gospel, who came upon Him with elders?
A: The chief priests and the scribes.
Q: What did they ask Jesus?
A: By what and whose authority Jesus did these things.
Q: How did Jesus respond to this?
A: He asked them, The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?
Q: Why did they reason with themselves about this?
A: Because the people saw John the Baptist as a prophet.
Q: How did they respond to this?
A: That they could not tell whence it was.
Q: How did Jesus respond to this?
A: Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
