"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."

1 Corinthians 10:31

Revelation 17 reveals the judgment of the great harlot, symbolizing a corrupt system joined with worldly power, wealth, and spiritual unfaithfulness. The imagery points to a power that influences nations, deceives rulers, and stands opposed to the holiness and truth of God. The beast and the kings of the earth temporarily unite with her, but their alliance ends in destruction, showing that worldly kingdoms built on rebellion ultimately turn against one another under God’s sovereign judgment. This emphasizes the contrast between temporary earthly power and the eternal authority of God, while calling the faithful to discernment, endurance, and separation from corruption.

Let Your Walk Talk

“It is a great deal better to live a holy life than to talk about it.
We are told to let our light shine, and if it does we won’t need to tell anybody it does.

The light will be its own witness.

Lighthouses don’t ring bells and fire cannon to call attention to their shining—they just shine
.”

~DL Moody

Matthew 5:16
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

“For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you."

"When you and I approach the Word of God, we must come to the place where we are ready to lie in the dust. I do not mean to simply acknowledge that we are nothing, that we are sinners; but we must be willing to lay into the dust our opinions, our self-will, and our own viewpoints—to put it all down and listen to what God has to say." ☕️

“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”

I Wasn’t Addressing You
There's a story that when Bill Moyers was a special assistant to President Lyndon B. Johnson, he was asked to say grace before a meal in the family quarters of the White House. As Moyers began praying softly, the president interrupted him with, “Speak up, Bill speak up!”

The former Baptist minister from East Texas stopped in mid-sentence and without looking up replied steadily, “I wasn't addressing you Mr. President.”
Beloved, when you pray, wherever you pray, pray to God and not to those around you.
Matthew 6:7
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

There is a small detail in the empty tomb most people miss that I love going back to over and over.

In John 20, the scene unfolds quietly.
No grand announcement. No dramatic spectacle.
Just an open tomb, early in the morning,
and a few careful observations.

John records what he saw.
The linen cloths were lying there.
And then, almost in passing,
he adds something easy to overlook,
The face cloth, once wrapped
around Jesus’ head, was folded
and placed separately.

It’s the kind of detail we might read past.
Small. Unnecessary, it seems.
And yet, John chose to include it.

Why?

Jewish burial practices treated death with finality.
Bodies were wrapped tightly in linen,
layered with spices, sealed in a tomb.
It was not something undone.

And if this had been a grave robbery,
the scene would not look like this.
No thief takes time to unwrap a body.
No one carefully folds cloth
in the middle of stealing.

There is no sign of disorder here.
No panic. No haste. No disruption.

Only quiet arrangement.

The cloths are there.
The face covering is set apart.
Everything is… composed.

This is not what we expect from an empty grave.
But it is exactly what we should expect
from Jesus as John has shown Him.

Throughout the Gospel,
He is never overtaken.
He is never forced.

He lays down His life willingly.
And He has authority to take it up again.

Even here, especially here,
that authority remains.

The resurrection is not an escape from death.
It is not a rushed departure.

It is deliberate.

The folded cloth does not shout.
It does not demand attention.
But it quietly speaks,
This was finished.

Not abandoned.
Not interrupted.
Finished.

What began at the cross with
“It is finished” did not end in chaos.
It carried through the tomb,
with the same calm,
the same control,
the same intention.

The empty tomb is not the aftermath of confusion.
It is the evidence of completion.

And in that stillness, in that order, we see it clearly,
This was not chaos followed by correction.
It was completion followed by calm authority.

“These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage. But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.”
Jude 1:16-18 KJV

Some days faith is not bold or loud. It is not having all the answers or feeling strong.

Sometimes faith is simply whispering, “Jesus, help me,” and reaching for His hand again.

If that is all you can do today, it is enough. He will not let go of you. ☕️
