Forwarded from Be Ready For The Rapture
Pastor Matthew Olson's 96-hour, Genesis-to-Revelation sermon was driven by a desire to highlight the power and importance of God's Word.
The vision came after a missionary training exercise in which he spent 96 hours in the woods without access to a Bible, leaving him with a deep appreciation and longing for Scripture.
According to church leaders, Olson wanted to answer the question: βWhat would it be like if the Bible was preached for 96 hours uninterrupted from Genesis to Revelation?β
While the marathon sermon ultimately set a Guinness World Record, church leaders stressed that the goal was never publicity or a stunt. Instead, they said the focus was on proclaiming Scripture continuously and trusting that βGodβs word will not return unto him void.β

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us for adoption to Himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will.

βAnd he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.β

Study To Shew Thyself Approved Unto God
It is to God, not to man, that we are to diligently study in order to show ourselves approved. What is man that we should be mindful of what man thinks of us? Too often the gospel truth to which we hold fast, is foolishness to the world of men & can also be distorted by the finite thinking of many theologians.
It is also the God breathed Scripture, which is His inerrant Word of Truth that is to be the focus of our study & not the wise philosophies or limited scope of mortal man's understanding. Through the study of His Word, we should make every effort to discover the beautiful gems of wisdom that are found within its pages. Indeed, it is the Spirit of Truth that has been sent to guide us into all truth & that truth is to be discovered within the pages of the wonderful revelation of God's plans & purposes that has been given to man by divine decree.
But what does it mean to rightly divide this Word of truth? What does it mean to rightly divide the Scriptures of God? Well, we are to accurately handle the content of the Bible. We are to correctly learn & teach all that has been revealed to man in God's Word, to correctly interpret the Scriptures. We are to rightly divide the Word of truth.
Scripture should not be taken out of context nor twisted to say what we would like it to say, or even think it says. The Word of God is one unified whole which unveils the unchanging nature & character of God & the devastating effects of sin, which is a concept that threads throughout the Word.
It also spans from creation to the eternal ages to come & contains God's wider plan of salvation as well as identifying the arch enemy of God & men as the fallen angel, Satan. But is also distinguishes between many important concepts & periods of time. For instance, being saved must be differentiated from growing in the Christian life & passages that were specifically written to Israel should not be confused with those that were written to the Church.
The pre~Cross doctrine must stand in contrast with the post~Cross teachings & literal passages must not be twisted into spiritual passages & vice versa.
Scripture is its own interpreter & the Holy Spirit becomes the teacher of the believer that is walking in spirit & truth, so let us do our best to present ourselves to God as one that is approved, workers who do not need to be ashamed, rightly handling the Word of truth.
God bless you all.
