2 John 1 teaches that true love is shown by walking in Godβs commandments, not just words. Believers are urged to remain in the truth from the beginning and to be watchful of those who deny Christ, refusing to support false teaching. Staying in truth and obedience keeps us in fellowship with God and protects the community.

The Passion of the Christ (2004) completeπ¬
In this version of Christ's crucifixion, based on the New Testament, Judas expedites the downfall of Jesus (Jim Caviezel) by handing him over to the Roman Empire's handpicked officials. To the horror of his mother, Mary (Maia Morgenstern), Magdalen (Monica Bellucci), whom he saved from damnation, and his disciples, Jesus is condemned to death. He is tortured as he drags a crucifix to nearby Calvary, where he is nailed to the cross. He dies, but not before a last act of grace.

βAnd said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.β

3 John 1
1 The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.
4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
5 Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;
6 Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:
7 Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
8 We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.
9 I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
10 Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.
11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
12 Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.
13 I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee:
14 But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name.

βThen Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.β

As a Lost, Dark Sinner, I was so Afraid of Standing before God
On April 11, 1965, the last Sunday night of a six-week Gospel series, I was so lost and dark. After two hours at home, my father asked if he could help me. I didnβt know how to answer him. I knew he could not save me, and so did he, but in respect for my dad, I knew I must answer him, but how? The only answer I could give him was, βThe Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins.β I hardly got those words out before I knew I was saved.
Almost immediately, I thought of this verse:
βBelieve on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.β Acts 16:31
In a moment, I fell in love with His Name β the same name against which I spoke daily.
John 1:12 βBut as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:β
I love to tell my story, and a whole lot more could be said. I donβt think Iβve ever been so brief.
